FINALLY! The Light at the End of the Tunnel!

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Published

Its been a year since I got my CNA certification. I've filled out tons of app. at nursing homes and hospitals but only had 2 interviews. I gave in and started volunteering at a Nursing home, and was even told they would hire me in as soon as they needed to a CNA, but that was a lie. They ended up hiring a few CNA's and I wasnt one......I was beginning to give up hope :crying2: .............. But I kept applying for CNA/PCA positions at hospitals and Nursing Homes.

Than out of the blue a local Hospital called me in for a interview!!! I was excited but still didnt want to get my hopes up because I had no experience and I was told time after time Hospitals only wanted CNA's with at least 6 months under their belts. So I went into the interview expecting the worst but I still put forth my best..............and to make a long story short I start Orientation on the 21 :yeah:

Its a PCA (patient care assistant) position, and I have one question:

Does it count as a CNA position for when its time to renew my certification? I read that you need at least 8 hours working as a CNA to renew it

It counts!! A PCA is more or less just a CNA with a few extra qualifications.

WOW! Bless you for your perserverance! IT PAID OFF! I was in a similar boat- applying for a HHA/PCA/RESPITE care all summer with no luck. So I took a CNA challenge course and passed exams and became a CNA- within 10 days I got hired at an Agency! It's truly a miracle- so I got interviewed one day and hired the next. All the best to you- let's keep others posted on how it goes.
