Finally passed NCLEX-RN after failing! :)

Published

The last time (last February) I posted here was when I got my ATT for the first time to take the exam for Nevada. Since then, I failed the NCLEX-RN twice answering 265 questions each time. Both with the CC PAGE showing up after doing the PVT. :( After the second time I failed, I had no idea how I was going to prepare for the third time, while crying for days. I was reading so many books at a time and it wasn't helping me, but no matter what I didn't want to give up! Being a nurse is what I wanna be, and I would never stop trying.

So I started from scratch. I gave up all my other books. These are the things I used to review:

1. Saunders Comprehensive Review 5th edition - made a study calendar and finished it

2. Kaplan Classroom Anywhere - Live Review (the online class)

4. Kaplan QT's and Qbank (finished everything)

3. Saunders Q&A Review book (finished everything)

After getting another ATT, I scheduled my exam for December 3 (it felt right since it's my 3rd time to take the test haha)! I cried the night before from so much anxiety, and I couldn't sleep until 1am! I got to the testing center and prayed for awhile before entering. I went through the whole process and when I got to the computer I prayed again. I felt all my anxiety go away, and I just did what I usually did when I answered my practice questions. I was feeling confident and I just kept praying that I won't go to 265. I passed #75 and started feeling nervous, but I took a deep breath and kept answering again. For those who are wondering, I got about 10 SATA's, a handful of med calculations, and LOADS of priority and delegation questions. :) After #85 which was an exhibit question, the screen went blue. I felt SO RELIEVED. I was so happy that I didn't have to sit for 5 hours. When I got to my car and drove all the way home, I was so nervous! I was with my mom and she told me to try the PVT. So I tried reregistering, and before I clicked next I took another deep breath and said a little prayer and got the GOOD POP UP!

That was yesterday, so I checked this morning on the Nevada BON site and finally saw my license ACTIVE! :) So thankful I don't have to wait for the quick results!

Sorry for the long post. I just felt like posting because I know there are others out there that feel sad and defeated from failing, like I did. I just wanted others to know that I'm an international student, and failed twice before finally passing. So there really is hope. :) Don't EVER give up! :D Just keep going!

I got the letter of approval to take my nclex boards last august and planning to schedule my exam this January because I have to work full time and couldn't really study :( .the only book I have finished-cover to cover is the prioritization, delegation book and only did 50% average in every chapter test.please give me any suggestion on what other books would be beneficial to help me out.thanks everyone!

Thank you so much for sharing this :) I also took my exam on Dec 3 for the 2nd time and just found out that I passed! :)

I wasn't planning on doing the PVT and decided to just wait for the official letter from the NV-BON 'cause I'm too scared to be directed to the CC page again. :(

But thank God I came across your post,:saint: if not, i would have waited and be anxious for 2 weeks. Thank you and Congratulations :nurse:

Congrats! International student here too and will take the exam first time in two weeks. Kaplan is my main study resource. Hoping for the best! :)

what did your report say for the first two times you took the nclex?

Hello!!! Congratulations!!! I sched my exam this coming 21st. I do bad to most of my SATA. Practise questions. Can you give me full details about their SATA question? Thanks!!!!

Thank you! Good luck! :) Try to keep practicing on the SATA's so that you get used to it. I don't exactly remember the full details of my SATA questions, but I know they were asking what symptoms were for a certain disease and what actions to do in a certain situation. Sorry if it isn't much help, all the questions I took flew out of my mind once I stepped out of the center. :p

Congrats, way to go!....I took my nclex pn today, and my test finish at 85. Did d pvt and got d good pop, so hopefully it's true.

Thank yoU! Congrats in advance! :) Good pop up worked for me!

What does pvt mean? What's the good pop up....

It's the pearson vue trick. It's a way to find out if you passed or not after you take your exam. Here's a link to a post about it, it's in more detail. :)

The books that really helped me out was the 5th edition of Saunders and their Q&A book! The qbank from kaplan also helped me a lot! :) Hope that helps!

Thank you! Wishing you the best of luck! :D

what did your report say for the first two times you took the nclex?

My reports said that I was nearly passing in every criteria both times. I didn't know how to feel about it, because I thought I was studying as hard as I could that time. I figured out that I just need to find a different way to study. :)

CONGRATULATIONS. I really needed this encouragement. What would you recommend I focus on.

Prioritization, definitely! Who would you see first.....what would you do first.....(do not call the MD first)
