I'm thinking it is important to be frank to your evaluator and mention it. You're already hired, so don't worry, you're safe!

Congratulations on finding work!!!

In my experience with a past pre employment physical and screen, I did have to divulge whether or not I was pregnant since I was getting a PPD test (TB). I am pretty sure you cannot get a PPD test if you are pregnant. If you are not required to get a TB test, I would not mention it. 12 weeks is still very early and it's really no one's business at this point other than yours.

RE LALALALEXI:I suppose it is no one's business except the OPs however won't the employer find out anyway, down the line...why hide the fact?

Thanks all. i will let them know if they ask for ppd or xtray. thanks again

PPDs are fine to get while pregnant. I think it's YOUR business when to mention... it's not really their business, until you make it their business. I am 11 weeks, and my new employer does not know, nor will they until I am ready to tell. Congrats on the job!!

As PP stated, PPDs are fine while pregnant. You don't need to disclose your pregnancy to anyone other than your direct unit manager. It isn't a company wide issue. I recommend you let her know relatively early in your pregnancy before it becomes obvious or before you tell coworkers. That way you and she can discuss your plans (returning to work after 6 weeks, etc) and she can anticipate needing coverage. Its not a big deal and if your pregnancy creates a hostile work environment from anyone, it constitutes discrimination and possibly sexual harrassment, depending on the circumstances. If you were to encounter any situations, you should document time/date/exactly what was said and keep records for yourself, in case you should have to pursue the matter further
