Congrats to everyone one else for making it through the semester. Now onto RN-BSN in the summer.

I made it through! This was a tough semester with a lot of personal/family challenges. Last semester I had the highest grade in our fundamentals class. This semester: broke my foot, hubby had a colon cancer scare(biopsies all turned out negative thank god!)and I made it through nursing school with a C! Happy to have made it. Now I hope things stay settled down somewhat so I can spend the summer toughening up the areas I am weak in(Fluid/Electrolytes)and do much better in third semester!

CONGRADULATIONS TO ALL WHO MADE IT THROUGH WHETHER JUST BY THE SKIN OF YOUR TEETH OR SAILING HIGH!!!!

Specializes in Pediatrics, High-Risk L&D, Antepartum, L.

I've already started my semester so grades are old news ;)

For those hesitant to post their grades...

1. A test grade does not show how good of a nurse you will be

2. Not all schools/classes are created equal (you can't compare the same class at 2 different schools...they are then 2 different classes)

3. I know A students who wouldn't be allowed to lay a hand on my family. I know a student who didn't make it this past semester and I would have let her touch my family (if you asked her the questions she could answer the, if you wrote a test she panicked...crazy).

4. In the end everyone who passes has an RN

5. Everyone has a different set of baggage they carry through school so a C for some may be done by relaxing but others got it through blood sweat and tears with issues other then school fighting for attention.

6. Not everyone is a good test taker but they may still know all the information.

If you passes just be proud of yourself. My mom and I were talking today about how academic achievement is rewarded very quickly but they don't reward those with skill.

Those who didn't make it...just going to throw the pep talk in...try again, work harder, make changes but don't give up. This isn't schooling for those who want the easy trip. You went for a challenge and you have not lost that challenge. You have just learned you need to fight harder, push more and in the end dance a little crazier because you will have REALLY earned it!

passed ob/peds; found out today! b's but for a 47 year old male, thats not bad.at our school , anything below an 80 is failure, so i've been sweating bullets waiting on grades this week..i now have a beer in my hand and a smile on my face; waiting on 4th semester in the fall

i too am in ns in mississippi. our program is an 80 or better. just finished first semeseter but passed with a b in fundamentals. i am stoked about next fall and am going to do everything i can to come up with an a. but with four kids..who knows. all i can say is b=rn. take care all!

Specializes in L&D all the way baby!.

I hate even talking about grades! I missed an A by only a few points in first semester (and I had the highest grade). I had to get over it quickly. I did have all A's in 2nd (OB, Peds and Psych which I liked). I don't like when people say just because you get an A does not mean you'll be a good nurse (of course it doen't mean you'll be a bad nurse either) and I don't like when people always say C=RN (but of course C does in fact = RN) but hey it's all true... I never thought I'd care this little about my grades. I soared through pre-req's and laughed inside when my friends told me that I'd be glad to PASS NS much less get an A. I could never imagine that I wouldn't care. Ah alas it has happened. Well of couse I CARE but I no longer obsess.

I haven't taken my final yet for this semester and I'm going in with a 90 (which is of course NOT an A). Still trying to figure out if I should try to kill myself studying for that A or just say "hey a B is fine". I guess that will depend on how many shifts I work that week and/or how much laundry I have to do and/or how many kids activities I have to attend ;o)

i hear you on the difference in grading...at our school, anything below a 75 is failing, a 75-82 is a c, an 83-92 is a b and anything above a 93 is an a....what happened to the good old 70 is passing.....:monkeydance:
