go to your financial aid office and apply for financial aid or the stafford loan. (the fin. aid dept will know exactly what this is)

good luck!

Fill out the fafsa. information is at fafsa.ed.gov

as other posters mentioned, fill out fafsa online. there is an option if you are interested in federal student loans. also talk to fin. aid to see what else you have to do to get the loan. If you think you're gonna drop, then you could mess things up for yourself with financial aid and grants. see what you can do about being sure you can get through classes even with a hardship, otherwise you may want to wait a semester to be sure. If it's only your mom, as in no kids or other major obligations, then you should be able to pull it off. single parents can and have done it and so do and have other care takers. depending on the type of care your mother might need, you might even be able to find some kind of assistance to help you too. she should have some sort of social worker assigned to help her and help find resources. see if you can find some sources of help caring for her along that line ahead of time incase you will need it. i wish you the best
