Hi I am currently reviewing and preparing for the CRNE, like many others, I have already passed the NCLEX and also holds a valid Visa Screen, but due to retrogression and backlog in applications in the US, I gave up my American Dream and decided to apply in Canada instead. I have received my eligibility to take CRNE, and so I would like to ask for assistance from those who have passed the CRNE by answering the following questions:

1. Are CRNE questions like NCLEX? What are there difference?

2. What are the materials that you have used? Where can I have it? (any source, link, file sharing)

3. How many months did you study before taking the exam?

4. Your personal advice( i.e. maslows, abc, medications, areas to focus on?

5. Strategies that you used that ultimately helped you passed the exam?

Your answer would be very much appreciated as this will not only help me, many will benefit to.. Thank you..

You are welcome, I am glad you are finding the links helpful. I have more e-learning to recommend, these ones are from the Registered Nurses of Ontario ( RNAO's) website, the courses provide audio, some video, patient scenarios and commentary. It may be worth checking out; client centered care, delerium, dementia and depression, addictions, nursing management of hypertension, and caring for patients receiving IV therapy

Note the courses take time to get through, you cannot skim the material, you must play the audio component or you will be blocked from moving forward.

hi nursemich... i just want to ask what province you applied to in canada and how your assessment went along... were you not required to have an SEC? when did you have your assessment processed and how long it took you to receive your eligibility... sorry for the many inquiries... i am in the process of having myself assessed by the CNO... by the way, i hope you don't mind if i ask, did you have any graduate studies on nursing?

thanks very much in advance!

hi nursemich... you are very lucky to be eligible to write the CRNE without taking the SEC assessment... I don't know how you do it... but you did a good job...

Hi can-rn-immigrant, I applied in SRNA, Saskatchewan Registered Nurse Association, and my application took one year and eights months to finalize. Yes, they didn't require me to take SEC. From what I've heard CNO requires SEC for international applicants, while in Sask they only advice SEC if they found your education and experience not compatible to them. I have only 9 units of Masterals but I already have 3 years nursing experience..

Thanks krissfoxx. I don't know what I did too, I just know that I followed what they required me to submit and I waited for 1.8 year :)

When are you going to write the exam? I recently passed the CRNE in Vancouver. I just used the latest version of the CRNE prep guide and readings from the previous exams. That's it...

Goodluck on your exam.
