PHNURSES IN SURINAME
2 Posts
Good day to all! I would just like to share facts and the truth about Filipino nurses here in Suriname, South America. Hospitals in Suriname are Academic hospital, Diakoness, s'lands, st. Vincent and Diapura dialysis center.
> There are 2 ways to get a job as a nurse here in Suriname. #1. Grand placement agency in Manila and #2. Ms. *********. If you are offered a job in Suriname, please pray and think about it first. The agencies are really good at sales talk to lure you to take the job. The description they will give you will be overrated!
> Salary offer would be US$900 - $1100. But don't be fooled by this. This is fake and B.S because the truth is we are only receiving $400 - $600.
How is this possible?
They offered us US$1000 but when you get your salary here it will be in Surinamese Dollar NOT in US dollar. (Suriname dollar cannot be sent in the Philippines). We have to look for and buy US dollar during our free time just to send money to our families.
In the job offer, the Suriname dollar convertion rate will be 4.20 Suriname dollar to 1 US dollar. So every month, the actual money you will be getting will be around 4,200 suriname dollar.
But as of this month, due to their bad economy, the money conversion at the money changers is now 7.15 Suriname dollar to 1 US dollar. So if you buy US$ with your 4,200 suri $ salary, it will just be around 590US$. (26,000 pesos * ********************domestic helper *).
Another problem is that when you go to the money changers and they see that you are filipino, the will not sell US $ to you!
We have reached out to the phil embassy in brazil and the POEA but I guess we are not their priority. We have received little help.
So if you are a nurse who received a job offer from Suriname, please think about it. Is 26,000 pesos per month worth it?
