hi everyone!:) i'm an RN in the philippines and just got here in US on a fiancee visa. I was planning to take my nclex exam but still undecided on what state to apply without CGFNS and IELTS or TOEFL. My state is Minnesota. I already went to their BON website and they need those CGFNS if you are a foriegn nurse. :crying2: I'm now confused if i apply in another state will they be ok with the License by endorsement when i'm already a resident here?scared also to get any problems in the future because i decided to apply in a state without lots of requirements for foriegn nurses. can you help me?

You need to contact the state and ask what their requirements are when International trained and endorsing a license.

Most states require some contact with CGFNS however for most it is CES which is a transcript evaluation. Even though you are in the US with a immigrant visa (well once married and AOS you will be) you trained outside the US therefore you have to meet International trained

Minnesota requires transcript evaluation or CES by CGFNS and an English exam (TOEFL or IELTS). That is pretty basic now for most states. I don't think that's a lot to ask for a foreign trained nurse.

Register with CGFNS, request for CES. Review for IELTS (By the way what band score does your BON require?). I have taken both IELTS and TOEFL in the same month. And IELTS is easier. After passing the IELTS. Review for NCLEX while waiting. Best wishes on your wedding and

good luck also on your AOS.

Congrats on your upcoming marriage.

To submit your application you need a SSN, you will qualify for a SSN once you marry. In the mean time I would start the ball rolling.

Thank You so much ma'am and sir...:) I was really thinking about applying in california then just do the license by endorsement someday. But still scared coz my state is MN. But i will really weigh the pros and cons in planning to take it in cali or MN. Thank you so much!

Getting a license in California and then endorsing to Minnesota will take you longer, believe me. California does not require CES or an English exam because they do their own evaluation. However, they take forever to process RN licensure applications. Then, you'll find out that once you try to endorse your CA license to MN, MN will still require that you to go through CES and pass and English exam. So really you just wasted time and money.

Minnesota is your home, I agree with the OP, it will take more time to get cleared to take the NCLEX.

What is the rush? Moving to a new country and getting married is so time consuming. Get adjusted to your new life, why add more stress on yourself. You husband to be would what you to be happy.

Enjoy your time as a newly wed, marriage is work and having a good foundation in a marriage is more important than being a nurse. Use the time to study for the NCLEX so when you do get permission you will be able to take the test and succeed.

This process in the best of circumstances will take months, so enjoy your new life.

I see...I never think of the California doesn't require English exam...I'm an RN in the Philippines too and I'm in California right now..I already have a California license....I didn't have TOEFL or IELTS..but I decided not to apply for interim permit because I was thinking you should have the TOEFL or IELTS..
