FGCU Nursing Program Fall 2016

Published

I haven't seen a thread for FGCU nursing Fall 2016, probably because it's so early, but I figure I start one anyway. I am applying to both FGCU and UCF for fall nursing 2016. I currently attend Palm beach state college in lake worth Florida. I just finished my AA degree and have a 3.7 GPA. I am planning on taking my Teas test in November. If I get accepted into FGCU I want to live off-campus and would like a fellow nursing student roommate to make the transition easier. Can't wait to hear from the rest of you!

Congrats to everyone who got in! I have been trying to comment on this thread for awhile now. Super nervous but excited to get this ball on the roll and to meet everyone

Hi all. I am graduating from FGCU in a few weeks. Would be glad to give you some pointers.. also selling a few things (full set of scrubs, a few books etc). I would be glad to answer any questions I can /and am allowed too. Plus if anyone could use a few things.. let me know. :)

Hey everyone, I've created an account here to throw in my two cents on this issue, as well as to ask littlekrickett quick question. Please disregard any errors; I am typing this up on my phone. In case this can help anyone, I applied and didn't get in.

TEAS: 73%

GPA: 4.0

I understand that I didn't do great on the TEAS, but it was my first time and I hadn't studied, for what that's worth. I figured it would help everyone (and presumably relieve those with a lower GPA) to know that a high GPA doesn't really matter given the monstrous applicant pool. I've already reapplied for spring and am planning on retaking the test. I'd be led to assume that the main reason I didn't get in is because I only have the minimum amount of prerequisites done at the moment. According to Maxine Fatz, who is a guidance counselor with the nursing department and very helpful, this can be the case.

Anyway, I'm planning on living in San Carlos next semester and completing the entrepreneurship minor in the fall. I'm gonna throw out a wide net of applications regardless. If spring rolls around and nobody takes me (which is highly unlikely, but unfortunately a possibility) I'll possibly be commuting to Nova Southeastern for their BSN program next spring if I'm rejected again.

I'm not trying to wait around for FGCU. This school's BSN is certainly not worth dragging my education out any further. There's only going to be more applicants in the coming years, so I would suggest to everybody in my boat to apply everywhere and take what you can get. Congrats to everyone who got in, however.

Thank you for offering your experiences! I am curious as to whether or not you or anyone you know was randomly drug tested throughout the program (specifically during clinicals).

Also, what hospitals (if any) did you use for clinicals? I am not very clear on how this portion works. Is there a commute?

No, I'm not a druggie; it has to do with personal, private matters. Also if anyone else has any input on this, it would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, The school and the clinic sites to my knowledge can test you anytime. FGCU works will all the hospitals within a 5 county area so yes at some point you would be traveling. I worked as far away some days as North Port and Clewiston. It is possible not to have to commute much outside Lee county at all. However there is always a chance that you could get one of the sites that is far away and its not always obvious which these are when you select your classes.

Thank you for the response! Were you or anybody you know tested at any point throughout the program? I'm just trying to get an idea of how likely they are to come around.

Aside from that, did you enjoy your overall experience at FGCU's nursing program? I'm currently waiting to hear back about my spring application; hopefully I can get in this time around.

Hi!

First off congrats on graduating!!!!! best wishes in your future!

any advice for an incoming nursing student accepted into the program? any resources on or off campus you think i best utilize? what was your preferred method of studying (with or without groups?)? where did you do your clinical rotations? what was the easiest/hardest class in your opionion throughout the program? what was the hardest/easiest adjustment you had to make during nursing school? Any advice would be deeply appreciated ! THANK YOU & CONGRATS AGAIN!

Hi! I'm interested in your set of scrubs if you're still selling, and also any advice you can give!

Hello, what are the school days and times for the program? Can you give me an idea please?

Depending on the semester, but you'll have class and/or clinical just about everyday of the week. If the class is more than 2 hours long it'll be in the afternoon

Hows the program going for you? DO you have a FB I can possibly add you and ask more questions or whenever we find out if we are admitted you will be a great help
