Feeling insecure

I almost gave up on nursing after searching for over 2 years for my first nursing job. AFTER the interview, I was told that they will contact me about when I can start. But I am second guessing myself now thinking they may never call me or worse they may tell me i am not well fitted for the position. How long should I wait for them to contact me? It has been a day so far.

What kind of facility did you interview with and what state are you in?

It was adult day health center here in Delaware.

Did you already send a thank-you note. You should always do that right after an interview. So, if you haven't done that ... do it now. Thank them for the interview, reinforce their positive image of you, and let them know that you are looking forward to hearing from them soon. Drop it off at their post office so that they will be sure to get it on Monday. You can even do that by e-mail to ensure it will get there by Monday if you want. It's a nice, socially acceptable way to put you back in their attention again quickly after an interview.

I agree with the thank you note! It gives the employer a good lasting impression of you and can also act as a "hey I still need a job remember me?" lol. I always sent out thank you emails immediately after my interviews and in most cases if an employer has not called me within 2 days, I call them back and ask for a follow up.
