I'm losin' it!! I'm a 3rd semester NS, and my clinical instructor is making me postal. I'm not a perfect student, I have a family(rather dysfunctional at the moment) and I have lost all enjoyment/motivation with NS. I've failed a semester. had some crummy teachers, but managed to keep a positive attitude and try to enjoy school.....well that positive attitude is sooooo gone. I understand the politics etc, but sometimes people go to far. Why the hell do certain "instructors" go out of their way to make someone feel like an incompetent failure? in front of all of your classmates, or staff? I have never had a problem with clinical rotations until now. I have never been treated in such a disrespectful, unprofessional way. The sick thing is that we all know the system. There are no "higher ups" or Dean's etc that give a ****.....
I really hate the way that the comments of one person makes me feel like I've made a mistake by choosing nursing. sick. I am a woman with a family of my own and I'm not sure how much longer I can stand being treated like a little girl and play the nursing school game with this teacher.
I'm sorry that this is just a typical vent, but the insults that come out of this woman's mouth are not even about nursing, they are direct attacks on me, not me as a nursing student.
GGGGRRRRRRRRR!!!
sorry.

Take comfort in the fact that it is just a semester. Yes it is hard. No it is not fair. But it probably is not the first or the last time that you will have to "grin and bear it" for a season. Just remember that they have what you need, not the other way around and you are not hurting them if you don't succeed, even against the odds. God is just preparing you for trials to come...difficult staff as a new grad, difficult doctors, difficult patients, etc. Look at this as an opportunity to hone your skills in patience and diplomacy...soft skills that can make or break you, but often are not taught.
Good luck and God bless.
Phillipians 4:13 states, "I can do all things, through Christ, who strengthens me".
Thanks for all of the encouragement. For all of you dealin' with the same garbage, I give you much love. :redpinkhe This is only a moment in time. (right):wink2:
