how do you feel about group projects?

I understand working together, but some people always rely on the rest of the group. If one person doesn't pull their weight you have extra work at the last minute or you lose points due to someone else's incompetence. They get the same grade for unequal effort. I guess they are teaching a valuable lesson because its the same on the floors.

Uggghhhhhhhhhhhh! I am currently enrolled in an RN- BSN program. I am taking Nursing Research and EBP and the group projects are driving me insane. It is absolutely the bane of my existence and I feel as though I can t possibly make it through this class. In researching RN to BSN programs I heard of several that did not require group projects. I am so frustrated by the whole ordeal that I am quitting my current program after this class and transferring to another program with NO group projects. Why in the world would anyone think that it is a good idea to excessively require group projects in on online classroom setting. We are all working full time and working different shifts. Majority of participants aren't even clear on basic instructions. How is it fair to be graded on someone else's work? We cant sit down and discuss all of the aspects of out project as you can in a classic classroom setting. It's truly devastating to me to think I may have just wasted so much money for nothing. My only hope is that my completed classes will transfer. Its really not the same as working in groups in a real life setting, its not even close. for good communication a group must come together and discuss all aspects of a project before, during and after. Its almost impossible in our non-user friendly discussion group and I honestly just can not understand why this is allowed. Its just truly bizarre and all of the group projects I have completed in a traditional classroom could never have prepared me for the nightmare that is online nursing projects! ~ PS please pray for me!
