Feedbacks much appreciated: How is it working for Unitedhealth as RN Case Manager

Interviewing for telecommute nurse position. Needs feedback, Pros and Cons in working for Unitedhealth please. I am weighing if this is the job for me having 2 small kids at home. Appreciate any response.

Are you talking about the LTC ( ABD/ MLTSS) program? If so - The corporation ( UHG) is great. The program is a tedious thankless job trying to comply with the State contract. But ultimately - like most jobs - you just work for a supervisor and they are as Forest says " a box of chocolates. "

Thanks. No idea if its similar to Medicaid Case Manager job responsibilities. Im trying to get as much information as I can.

My experience with Case Management for Managed Care Organizations like United Healthcare is that the workload is quite large and you will end up putting in a lot of overtime (unpaid as these are generally salaried positions). If telecommuting is offered as an option, it can seem attractive but that often just means you never can really leave work and the expectation for those additional hours from upper management is always there, often needing to take place when you should be able to spend time with your family.

Especially with young ones and if one reason for your interest in the position is the desire for work-life balance, I would make sure that you understand the work hours and expectations up front. Some people find it to be a good fit, but the number who experience burnout within a year or two or don't even last that long I think is much greater.

I have worked for UHC for the last two years from home as a field case manager and really love my job. I don't know if I would be able to do it with small children at home, but it is a great company to work for in my opinion

Cannot answer specifically to UHG positions. But be aware.. you cannot care for your kids, while you are working. That will be in your telecommuting contractual agreement. You can't get into this and expect to be a mother at the same time. Your focus has to be on the JOB.

Some days, I have a hard enough time taking care of my dog.
