currently working on trying to write a 2 page clinical narrative. Its definition is : a personal story of a clinical situation that had particular meaning for you. Should describe how the experience validated or changed beliefs that you hold about your practice. I know that everyone has different experiences of course but maybe something that happened to you will inspire me to think of something im sure ive run across. Im terrible about just thinking things out of my head to write about. I don't keep journals or diaries lol. any help would be greatly appreciated

Perhaps something like a patient with a very poor prognosis comes in and after taking care of them for a while, they are later discharged in good spirits to lead a normal life.
Ever have any experiences like that?
What area of specialty does this involve?

I can't speak for you but I do know that the situations that impacted me the most were the ones that I personally related to. Whenever I would be caring for an older patient who didn't have a lot of family members come to visit it always made me sad because I immediately thought of how horrible I'd feel if that was my grandparent in that lonely hospital room. If you felt one way about nursing going into school, maybe your values have changed? I personally didn't know how much nurses do skills wise compared to doctors (silly, I know)! Or maybe going into nursing you knew you liked caring for people but didn't realize how compassionate you truly were till you actually began to care for and get to know specific patients? I'm just throwing ideas out here, but I'd say just try and brainstorm any specific patients or cases that really stuck with you then figure out why they affected you! Hope this helped a little bit ?
