FCCA - Anyone done them?

Published

I'm down to my last exam under the new EC program and wondering if anyone has gone through the Focused Clinical Competencies yet? I didn't use a test prep service so I'm kind of in a groove with the EC content guides and practice tests. Is there any prep material (like the practice exams) available cause I don't see it on the EC web site. Do they not let you see it until you've finished concepts exams or do you just go to Pearson cold? Thanks for any enlightenment!

I'm pretty sure that the FCCAs haven't been completed yet, they're supposed to be released this fall I believe. Looks like you just beat the clock. The good thing is that because they aren't released yet if you finished all the exams you can apply for CPNE, since it's a long wait anyways, you can get in line so to speak.

I think that's what I've been reading, I can't be 100% sure since I just completed the degree under the old format. Maybe someone can clarify.

That is what I have been told too, so contact EC to be sure and Good Luck. Please let us know how the FCCA went I will have to take it later.

Will do - thanks!

I am under the new curriculum and applied for the CPNE June 1st. The FCCA are scheduled to come out Oct 08. If you finish your exam before then you can apply for the CPNE and take the FCCA's before you graduate. I'm kinda glad because I don't like to be the first person to take any kind of new exams. I want them to get all the kinks out before making me a guinea pig.

Wouldn't it be nice if they're taking so much time on the FCCAs so that they can lighten up on the CPNE? Wishful thinking, I'm sure!

The FCCA will include the following:

#1: head to toe assessment and the nursing process

#2: Managing Multiple Patients

#3: participating in interdisplanary healthcare teams

Each test is Pass/Fail only and can be taken in any order the student wishes to take them, you will have 2 hrs to complete each component including a 10 min tutorial. The tutorial is availible at NO additional charge and students are encouraged to complete it since the computer scree will look very different compared to the other exams taken. there will be NO paper/pencil option for this test.

I got all that info from the EC website. Personally i think even though it's extra tests to take, the head to toe assessments and the nursing process one, i think is a very good idea, i know i had a lot of trouble with that in LPN school so it's nice to get a little more info on it before walking into the CPNE!!
