I'm confused.
I don't know how true this is but a recruiter told me that the visa screen application is faster once I already accept a job offer. I don't know how true this is. I'm working on my visa screen application right now but I already have a job offer that starts July 11th. I don't know if I'll get my visa screen cert in time since I still have to have my univeristy and college transcripts mailed off and I need to have minnesota and my nursing board fill out the license recognition forms.

the visa screen is no faster than if you don't have a job. It is taking approx 4 months to recieve your visa screen and that is on the basis of no problems with your stuff. ie transcripts etc. The visa screen has no way on it of saying that you have a job.
Suzanne will probably correct me if I'm wrong

Anna is correct above. Job offers have nothing to do with the Visa Screen application. There isn't even a place to list it on the application. I know of Canadian nurses, who are curently in the US and working, came before Visa Screen was needed, and have been waiting months for their Certificate. They are going to have to leave the country in the next few weeks because of the Visa Screen Certificate.
Sorry, but your recruiter is giving you wrong info.
This is another reason why I tell everyone to begin working on the Visa Screen Certificate in the beginning of the process, not wait until the end.
And the four months time frame that I am giving is from when they have everything in hand. Also take into account that Visa Screen is not just for nurses anymore. They also are needed by physical therapists and pharmacists. And there is only one office in the entire world that handles them for all of the foreigners that need them. So there is no quick fix to this.

you know, I'm getting more and more suspicious/unhappy with this recruiter's tatics. of course her main goal is for me to sign a contract with the hospital but she's being really underhanded about it. am I correct that since she's the "vice president, recruitment" then she should know this information about visa screen?
plus she was already misleading me and trying to pressure me to take this job in Modesto because I'm "lucky the hospital is looking at hiring me, most peds hospitals aren't looking to hire Canadian nurses". I know this is false since I've had other offers already when I've looked at other hospitals on my own.
They hire Canadian nurses in peds all of the time. She doesn't know what she is talking about................
Which hospital is this? You can pm me if you would rather.....
Is this direct with the facility or thru an agency?
