Hi everyone!

I didn't see a topic for spring 2019 for this school so I thought I'd start it for everyone. Everyone feel free to share grades/teas scores and such! I'll start.

Statistics: A

Human Anatomy & Physiology I: A

Human Anatomy & Physiology II: A

English Composition: B+

Introduction to Psychology: B+

Overall GPA: 3.3

TEAS: 90.0 Overall (98th Percentile)

GOSH I didnt expect to be responded to. Thank you!! The case with me is that I am already in a nursing program already but it's for an associates degree so I thought it would be beneficial to attend a school with a straight BSN. And also what's really weird is that my high school did not make me take a chemistry class either!. And I am a second year first semester student in college so I only took liberal arts A&P 1 and 2 so they wouldnt let me take chemistry with those classes bc it would be a load. And i took all of the required courses and even the teas. And I did exceptionally well in all of my classes and the TEAS so i would be really disappointed if I was to be denied for the chemistry situation☹

mmm... that is a delicate situation ... I know they have very limited seats (only 50 per semester) so they are really firm and usually don't compromise with the pre-requisites... but once again, definitely try to contact Admissions and explain your situation. Also, I believe the nursing department still hosts information sessions about entry to the program on campus, so you could attend one of those, and talk to one of the people there...

From what you've mentioned, It seems like you have a really good shot getting in, (hoping that the chemistry situation is resolved). I hope that everything goes well for you!

Oh! and if you graduated recently, try to contact your high school! maybe you had taken the regents for chemistry or have a class that would still be considered chemistry on your transcript .

Hi guys, I am planning on applying to Farmingdale for nursing in 2021. If I take as much pre reqs for the program does that have a better chance of me getting into the school?

Hi!

by pre-reqs do you mean the courses you need to take to gain entry into the program? If so, those are obligatory and you have to take ALL of them. If I remember correctly they include AP I and AP II, Statistics, English, Child development and a few more. They are very strict with that and the application is considered incomplete if you don't have all of those. High school level chem and algebra are also requirements. Make sure you look at the requirements on the school website under the nursing department. Theres a file there that tells you in detail all the courses you need to gain entry into the program.

However if you meant gen-eds as in the other classes besides nursing that you will need to complete your degree, (such as Microbiology), you don't need them to get into the program but taking them before the program makes it easier for you once you are accepted. They technically don't increase your chances of admission, as the school only considers GPA and TEAS score. But an easier gen. ed course may help you pad up your GPA for your application and will lighten your load for when you start the program. But you have to weigh the pros and cons, I know some people who chose to hold off on microbiology because it would have lowered their average before they entered the program (As it is super challenging.) But believe me, getting your gen Eds out of the way makes the going to the program less stressful. It doesn't get any easier but it takes a lot of your plate, and you can focus on your actual nursing courses.

Hey guys I know this chat is old. But if anyone can help me that would really helpful Do you guys know if they accepted anyone who scored below a 75. I got a 72 and my GPA is a 3.8 overall. I am really stressed as to if I can apply and if I even have a chance. Please help guys!
