When i was going through my clinicals. My school had an agreement with local hospitals and nursing homes so no one had to drive to far. My clinicals were no more then 5-10 mins away. But on clinical days they did say be prepared they can go from 6:00am to 6:00pm thou they never did. I understand the gas problem as well no one wants to drive 45 mins to get to clinicals i know i wouldn't. Always check with your school and teachers. These are my thoughts and Good Luck to Ya..
At my school the farthest clinical site for me is about 30 min... we do not get to pick which clinical site we want to go to. The one I'm at now is about 25 min from me, but we only have clinical one day a week for first semester. Starting next semester, I'm pretty sure we'll be going twice a week.
Not sure how long evening clinicals are, but for our day clinical we're never there more than 6 hours.

My LPN program is 15 months. 4 semesters, each 15 weeks long. It will be evenings. First semester 4-10 and the last three 4-10. Any nurse or nurse student that did evening classes, how many times a week was clinicals and how long? The main thing im concerned about is how far clinicals are. Are they between a 15-20 mile radius or even longer? There are many hospitals close to us because we have like 4 citys each only like 5-10 minutes away. I just really don't want to travel 45 minutes or longer away because gas money:( im poor.
