Hey Everyone!
I have been browsing the forums and I have not seen any threads about the Fall 2014 Valencia/UCF concurrent program. Did anyone else here apply? I finished my application yesterday.
My stats are:
Science GPA: 4.0 (substituted CHM for BSC Fundamentals of Biology I)
Pre-Req overall: 3.9 (I'm assuming Pre-Req GPA means the 8 classes combined, yes?)
A.A December 2013 overall GPA: 3.8
Teas 84.7% (My strongest scores were Science and Math, English and Grammar were both ok/average)
I retook the TEAS to get a better English/Reading score, and I scored just a little bit higher this time around. English is my second language so I always read things twice (not a good thing when you're taking a timed test, lol), so I ran out of time on the Reading section. (I did get a good score on the ones that I was able to answer though!)
The context cues and word context were very hard too, I spent 3-5 minutes trying to figure out the words. (It ALWAYS came down to two choices!)
It's frustrating scoring in the 90's in both Science and Math, but scoring in the low 80's and mid 70's in grammar. I read that a lot of people don't score very high in the Science portion, but make up the score by scoring great in Reading and Grammar. I guess mine is the other way around.
Anyone else?
I was waiting for someone to ask that question, because I too am unsure. I am receiving Bright Futures, and from what I was able to gather up, Valencia College is our home school and UCF is our host school. I was told that I had to fill out a transient form each semester with the classes I will be taking through UCF. I would pay for my UCF courses upfront and then Valencia would reimburse me. (?) It may depend on the type of financial aid you are receiving. I find it all quite confusing. If anyone else has some insight that would be helpful :) .
I've been doing some research and it looks to me that both Valencia and UCF work together for financial aid. Something I read stated that they recognize the student is going full-time because of the UCF courses and that way they are granted extra funds. This was just something I read from like 2 years ago, so I'm not sure how accurate it is today.
That is just what the financial aid office at Valencia told me, however, they seemed a little confused. I had to explain the situation a couple of times to them. I wish the Valencia orientation today touched more upon the concurrent program. I guess I should have asked questions. I'm probably going to email someone on the UCF side, and see what they say.
I know, the Valencia answer center did the same with me. They had little idea of what the program was, so therefore was very unhelpful. I have already sent out an email to a UCF advisor to see if this can give me some more information on the topic, so it can be cleared up before the semester ends.

AG1121, I believe once you accept your seat at one of the schools, your name is removed from the other list to give others a chance. I also, applied to both and accepted my seat at SSC/UCF. This is just what I've been told. Hope that helps :)
