Fall 2019 UM FNP program

Published

Hello,

Is there anyone applying for the FNP program at University of Miami for Fall 2019?

I believe you have to find your own preceptor for both programs. So Acute CareNP tends to be easier bc it's more hospital based while FNP is more MD office based. At least that's my understanding. I actually received the info from someone that has gone through ACNP UM program last year.

Oh wow! I did not know this. I live in Arizona. How do you find preceptors.

Hello! I applied October 8th but have not heard anything back yet. Has anyone heard back that applied before or after that? Also, I was under the impression that UM places students in clinical sites (per their website and clinical handbook).. I'm curious to know if this is true.

I'm sorry for the misinformation...I just spoke to another person that is in the FMP program now and UM does place you in preceptorship. I hope to have my application in by the end of the week for the Acute Care APRN FT program.

I spoke to SONHS last week and they said they haven't started to process applications, either way I'm hoping to submit mine by the end of October. I hope we hear back before holidays... but it seems that they'll start setting up interviews in January :/

BTW are any of you guys applying anywhere else?

deeRN2019-

I should also be submitting application by end of month. I am super nervous. I hope we hear back by the end of the year also. When I called the SON, I was told they accept 30 out of 300 or so applicants. Those odds make me nervous, but I do not want to go to different school. I know I need to apply to a few other places....I am thinking Vandy and Jefferson. Maybe Frontier also. What about you?

30 for each track right? I might apply to USouthFlorida but that will be my backup after hearing back from UM. Not a fan of their program since its mostly online

I would assume each track, but my question was specific to FNP. I love in Phoenix, so this is the only program I would move for. The rest of the schools I'm applying are online.

I just submitted my application!! I am so nervous!!!

That's great! Have you heard anything back? I'm submitting mine soon!

I sent my application on 10/25, but for the FT Acute Care APRN program...I haven't heard anything except a few days later they sent an email that application is under review...but from previous years it looks like they start notifying for interviews in the end of January.
