Fall 2020 Students San Diego (Grossmont, MiraCosta, Palomar and CSU San Marcos)

Published

Hello!

I have applied to the nursing programs at Grossmont, MiraCosta, Palomar and CSU San Marcos. I have a Bachelor's Degree in an unrelated field and am trying to decide between on a route of study:

1. Accelerated BSN at San Marcos

2. ADN at a Community College then completion program

Here are my thoughts please tell me what your think:

The Accelerated BSN program is accomplished in 2 years. With it being accelerated I believe it is more condensed = more information in a shorter amount of time = more intense and most likely more difficult. This program is more expensive and location is in Temecula.

The Community College route is longer 3.25 years at the shortest. This route is more cost effective (except that one could be working a year sooner). The program is more spread out and the commute would be much less.

Please let me know what your thoughts and experiences are,

?

Update from Grossmont:

UPDATE 5/21/2020

The GCCCD Department of Nursing is not currently reviewing or accepting applications for admissions to the ADN program because of the COVID-19 pandemic. When a plan is in place to resume review of applications, individuals who have previously submitted their application in February 2020 will be contacted to confirm whether they would like to remain a part of the applicant pool. Plans to resume review of applications will be posted here on this webpage when available. Interested individuals are encouraged to periodically visit this page to see the most up-to-date information and instructions.

Did anyone apply to Palomar College?

@jjocosing

I applied for Fall 2020 (or Spring 2021 now). Have you heard anything from the school? Since I know we're suppose to hear back sometime this month.

No, not yet. Hopefully soon though. Did you apply to other school?

@jjocosing

Had to hahha. I applied to most local community colleges. That being: Southwestern (didn't get it ? ), Grossmont, Palomar, and Mira Costa (in the process RN). I'm also in the process of applying to a mix of ABSN and ME-MSN programs. With the push back from COVID, I can only imaging the amount of applicants anywhere moving forward. So my best bet is to just apply to lots of schools, even if out of my area ?

How about you? Did you apply anywhere else?

I didn't get accepted at SWC and Miracosta. And waiting for Grossmont and Palomar College. I am currently taking CNA class to get extra point and will try to apply again at SWC.

I emailed Palomar college to see if there is any updates. Hopefully they'll respond to me soon.

Just got a response from Palomar College and she said that they anticipate sending out notifications in 3 weeks.

Are you only applying to cc in SD? and o jeez... well I hope you hear better news from the other schools. If not, at least you got you CNA cert. going for you. I think it's definitely a plus.

And okay cool good to know. Thanks for the heads up. Wishing both of us luck! Would be cool to get into school with someone I connected on here hahah

Yeah, only here in SD. How about you? Please let me know if you receive notification from Palomar College. Not so sure what email I gave them. Good luck to both of us☺️

Hi! I also applied to Palomar, and Grossmont, and Mira Costa. I submitted my applications in February but I didn’t get into Mira Costa, I believe their cut off point was 91 Points ☹️

im still waiting anxiously, checking my emails every 5 seconds LOL. If anybody here needs a buddy to talk to I’m here!

in the mean time, I decided to take some courses to keep my kind off things and to keep me busy during the wait.

@jjocosing Only in SD as well but now I'm starting applications for schools further out. Need to better my chances. And will do! I've been checking my emails everyday hahha.

@Jazzie Delarosa 91pts?! And here I was finishing up my application for their spring2021 cohort. Still going to do it since it's free to apply but jeez hahah okay. Anyways, hoping you hear back good news from somewhere as well!
