Anyone hear about the new statewide nursing curriculum? Bryan said that after Associate Nursing graduates complete the new nursing curriculum and get their RN licenses, they are then eligible to immediately enter UH-Manoa for their Bachelors. After 2 years at KCC/UH-Maui/Kauia CC they can go to UH-Manoa for a year and acquire their Bachelors. WOW! I'm excited! This means cheaper tuition for the first 2 years if you get accepted into the community college!
http://manoa.hawaii.edu/cons/curriculum.html is the website for the curriculum. Check out the other links in that website for other info.
Anyways, I'm applying for Fall 2012 at Manoa and KCC. Oh and I saw that UH-Manoa changed the deadline date to Jan 5.
But here are my stats so far.
pGPA:3.6
cGPA:3.4
I will be taking the NLN in November at UH-Manoa.
How do my stats look so far? Anyone got advice on preparation for the NLN?
Oh you're in the program already! awesome! thanks for offering to answer any questions :) i'm so excited to start in the Spring. What is the program like? Are you in the LCC or KCC cohort? Are there any tips or warnings you can give me in advance? Anything would be helpful! Orientation for us isn't until Nov. 18 but I am getting kind of nervous already. Is it possible to work part-time during the first semester?
I'm in the LCC cohort. As for tips and warnings, try to stay organized as best as possible and don't let yourself fall behind, you'll be much less stressed out. Your first few weeks will be pure skills lab, with lectures one day a week. Those are fun times, so get to know your classmates really well and make good friends! :) It definitely is possible (but not ideal) to work part time. I know a few of my classmates do, as do I...but rarely more than 24 hrs a week. For me, I don't have a choice since I have car payments! haha. I work weekends mainly, so I can get most things before hand.
