I thought I would start a thread for those of us who have been accepted and are attending NH in July! I am soooo excited to get started! I will be attending the May 15th orientation. Let's all help and encourage each other as we start this crazy journey!

You are a life saver! I have been so anxious with everything and orientation still seems so far away and it is not even a week away. On the stethoscope- can we choose whatever brand/color we want? or at least did your class get too, if ours is changing a slight bit.

Yes, you can get whatever brand/color you want. Mine is all black. I got mine at a scrub store for around $50.00.

okay cool! again thank you so much!

Any tips on exactly how to study for tests and exams? I am a bit afraid of that bc they said memorization will not cut it.

Tomorrow is our first orientation!! :) Hope to see y'all there!

I cannot wait! I am so excited I will probably have trouble sleeping tonight! Is anyone bringing a spouse to orientation?

Mine has to work :( I really wanted him to come so he can understand how focused I need to be and how much I'll need his help around the house lol...

The big lesson that I learned this semester is to study every day, no matter what else is going on. If I had other homework, I would always try to complete that first. A care plan can take HOURS and hours. I would work on that for instance and not study lecture material. There is always something that needs to be worked on. Trying to do these things first, would leave me cramming the day or two before the test. NOT good. Always schedule time to study every day. Also, record lectures and listen to them. Don't forget to your med-surg book. The instructors give you power points, but for a better understanding of the material, read your book. Not everyone did this.

Nope... mine is staying with the baby! See you all there!

Hey everyone!

I've been lurking on these Lone Star College nursing boards for a while, and I've finally decided to say hello!

I'm Ketsia (ket-see-yah) and I'll be starting at North Harris this coming fall.

Just wondering how the May orientation went for those of you who attended?

Hi! The May orientation was good! We got a lot of information about what to expect and what all we needed to do before the start of school. It was a LOT of info to take in but also very exciting to be at this stage! If you look back a few pages you will see a Facebook page that was made and a lot of people post on there rather than on here. Check it out!
