Hello all, just getting impatient about getting into Grand Canyon. Was wondering if anyone knew when we should be finding out if we were accepted. Also will we be finding out through mail or email?

I'm sorry but what do you mean by direct transfer students?

It means a student that did not take any classes at GCU to be considered a "current student". So if someone was transferring from another college they'd be considered a direct transfer without having taken classes at GCU.

I haven't received any emails you guys are referring to. I asked my advisor about AT Still and transfer students and she said she has heard no truth to these statements.
I only asked about the AT Still and my advisor said she hadn't received that information but she'll let me know if it is true. Other than that I haven't received any other emails with information.
I hadn't received anything about AT Still, but I hadn't applied there, I applied to the ABQ campus. If you look at the other thread entitled "GCU Fall 2015 Transfer Hopefuls" (I believe) a person pasted their email they received from their advisor regarding not allowing transfer students. I am not at all sure what is actually going on, but several students have stated they heard AT Still was closing first-hand, and this person posted an email regarding declining transfer students from their advisor. So it seems pretty... real. However, personally, because I applied to the ABQ campus, I do not believe the transfer issue would apply. All in all, I do think there seems to be misinformed administrators at gcu - for instance I was called by a woman at gcu whose name I didn't catch, no one had I ever spoken with before though, who told me my background check was not done and was a necessary part of my application. I told her my advisor had assured me several times all the necessary items were complete for my application, but she told me I did in fact have an incomplete application, but she didn't know how I could fix it and she said she'd call me back. I was anxious after her call so I paid for and completed the background check on my own and let my advisor know, and his response was an apology, he didn't know who had called me, but she was wrong in telling me that, that this cycle background checks were to be completed only after acceptance. Not that this is unusual, I've experienced the same "the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing" at other programs, other schools-my point is that what one advisor knows is not necessarily what the other advisor knows, especially when so many locations are involved. It's... a problem. But potential students are being told different things by different advisors apparently, and maybe it's because different advisors know different things. That, to me, is what seems to be happening.
Maybe it is different for ABQ students, but everyone that I knew that went in to fill out intent forms and talk with their SSA's were told to go do the background check and get fingerprint done by the application date. I definitely agree, it sounds like each SSA is getting different information from different places. So frustrating! I also just heard that AT Still location apparently lost its accreditation and that was why it is rumored to be closing (I say rumored since I haven't received an official email saying if any of it is true). I hate being a negative nancy because I truly do love the school, I just can't stand the miscommunication going on right now.

I've hadn't with the school bc I've had so many instances where one person told me one thing and another person told me something completely different. My enrollment told me that the cap for financial aid was 100k when in fact it's somewhere closer to 50k and had scheduled me for a class I could waive out of & would have used my financial aid. She would have really screwed me if I had taken that class bc I have past loans & this would put me over my financial aid limit not allowing enough money for when I'm in the actual program. That's only 1 of many examples. Too many to type. They seem small bits of misinformation but when dealing with a persons time & money it's huge.

The Dean stated GCU was consolidating our campus (AT Still) due to downsizing. They were looking at several sites for possible closure, but AT Still was chosen for various reasons. No mention of losing accreditation. I don't think a single campus could lose accreditation anyways.
Yeah that makes sense. I thought maybe AT Still itself had lost its accreditation. Thank you so much for letting us know.
I know that the email we received yesterday stated an apology for the delay and to please be patient, but I really was hoping that we could at least know about what day we might get to know the decision. The longer it takes, the more upsetting it is...I just want to know either way at this point. I just want to put that out there. I am trying to be patient...but I hope we get another update at least soon.
I haven't even received an email saying to wait.
Hi cc02, I think I got an email because it was an email sent by the ABQ location advisor to the ABQ hopefuls.
