Fall 2013 BSN Samuel Merritt University

U.S.A. California

Published

Hi everybody,

A week ago I mailed my application for the Fall 2013 BSN program at Samuel Merritt University in Oakland, Ca. Anyone else want to wait for results with me? I am currently taking 3 courses in progress until mid May! I am so nervous !!!

Hi Marykydarling,

I read that you are in the ABSN program at SMU. Is that right or is it the BSN program? I'm applying to the Spring 2014 Sacramento program this month. Just curious, what were your stats when you got in? I didn't score to well on my TEAS and I am getting mixed reviews on how much it can affect admission. How were your essays? Do you have a lot of volunteer/leadership experience?

Hi Lyssa! I am actually in the BSN program in Oakland. I am familiar with the ABSN program because several of my friends have finished at both the Sac & Oakland campus. Admission is a little different for the programs, so you may want to keep that in mind! My stats were as follows: 3.3 Science GPA; 3.89overall GPA; 70% TEAS (but above the national average for all of the categories which is something they look at). I personally think my admission letter was awesome, and probably helped me tremendously! At the time of my application, I had 5 years of 911 EMT experience under my belt as well.

I'm fairly certain that with the ABSN they look at your last 60 unit GPA, where as for the BSN they strictly look at your pre-req GPA.

I hope that helps! Please lmk if you have any other questions and GOOD LUCK!

I am wondering if anyone that has taken the TEAS test(and done well) is interested in making some money tutoring. I took it once and will be taking it again in a couple of weeks to improve my score. I am in the Bay Area. Thanks!

I met them last year at the Seminar and they are so sweet! Can't wait to be there with everyone else.
