Fake JHACO Reps/Terrorism Memo

Published

We got a memo at work that another hospital had some Jhaco reps who had ID badges come for a visit. The reps were asked to wait while their ID's with JHACO were verified, and then they fled. Homeland Security is involved now, apparently. That was all the info we were given...but it sounded like they felt that these were potential terrorists casing the place.

I mean, who would want to pose as a JHACO rep? Weird stuff. Did anyone else hear about this?

All health systems were sent that memo by JCAHO, even on their website. So when JCAHO showed up Jan 8th for unanounced home health survey (2 yrs ago done in March) we did call headquarters to verify ID.

Survived with 2 recomendations and corrctive action plan accepted. Subsequently learned average agency receiving 6 recomendations for corrections. Know I work in a quality organization that keeps us prepared all the time.

Last time JCHAO popped in unannounced to our ED we threw them out. It was a horrendously busy day-the usual-and the inspectors kept getting in the way. We literally were tripping over them. They were good about leaving, though.

I do wonder, if this potential terrorist threat continues, what it will do to unannounced visits.
