Anyone else attending this program? I haven't seen any discussion on it.
I am attending it, I am nervous about the price- 56k for the entire program. Why is it so expensive? What's so great about the program?
anyone?

I will be attending FDU for Fall 2010 as a traditional student...a junior...so good luck with the 2 yr program. I heard it was intense but don't really know much about it.

Hey, felicity1212, congrats! I also was accepted to 2010 traditional Nursing, I know it's PRETTY expensive! I just had no choice because FDU was the only 4 year college which accepted me The rest of them were 2 year colleges. You know, I'm actually thinking were to go: 2 years, easy to commute, or get a car and go to 4 year one ?
I did some research and found that FDU has one of the HIGEST passing score on NCLRX exam in NJ, which is not that bad :)

Hey Guys:
I am currently a nursing student at FDU. It is a really great program. Since i have a degree in a different field, I did the accelerated 2 year program. I will be done in August( I CANNOT WAIT). Congrats on being accepted. Let me know if you have any questions about the program in general.
dreamgirl & norah- where do u all live? how will u pay fdu's expensive tuition?
ggabri07 omg yes! what time do classes start and end? how many days a week are classes? can the program be done on the weekends? how are the tests? are the professors good? helpful? do the cater to evening students well?
i am trying to decide between fdu (2 year) and liu (3 year). i live in brooklyn and work in the bronx.. it'll be so hard for me to go from brooklyn to the bronx to nj back to brooklyn everyday.. ugh
Hi Felicity.....FDU is very expensive. Is it worth it? NOOOOOOOOOOOO. Is the program flexible? Well, for me Yes---I choose FDU because it was the only program that would allow me to work full time and still go to school( I am not married and do not have any kids so its even easier for me to do both). I paid with private loans and cash........Its a pocket breaker but you will likely get it all back once you start working in the field.
I am in the 2 year accelerated evening program so I can only comment on the schedule for my program.
- In general you will be at FDU 3 to 4 times a week depending on the semester. You have classes in the Fall Spring and summer.
- 98% of the classes/clinicals are in the evening (starts around 5pm). Community Health clinical is during the day from 9am-3pm (but you do not take that till your second year into the program.
- Classes are usually from 5-9 and clinicals are usually from 5p- 11p/12a depending on your teacher.
- If you have not taken healthcare economics- you will be required to take it and its usually on a Friday from 12- 3p.
- The teachers are great (I think). If you show initiative they will work with you....
- The tests are reasonable if you study and retain the information. You must know your information or you will find it very hard to pass the class. Study Study Study and always ask for help if you need it.
- The program cannot be completed on a weekend scheduled. There are no weekend classes available.
- I would not say that they cater to evening students but I can say that they understand that most evening students are full time workers. With that said, some teachers may work with the students with regards to the exams dates but that's about it.
- If you do decide to do the program- let me know and I can provide you some further details about recommended books, studying methods, etc. Hopefully I answered all of your questions. Let me know if you need some more information

Hi I was just wondering how difficult it is to get into FDU's nursing program? I am currently attending WPU but it doesn't look like I will get into the program.. anyone know the mimimum GPA they require?
Hey I wanted to inquire about their nursing program. How is your clinical experience? What hospitals do they hold their clinicals?

ggabri07 if you are following any of these posts I would like to contact you.
you graciously exchanged emails with me last year. I can't send member to member emails from my all nurses account.
If you are out there can you please tell me how to email you at allnurses?
thanks

Well just got my rejection letter in the mail yesterday. I'm somewhat surprised that I didn't even get an interview. I guess it's harder to get into than I thought it was. Anyone else have this experience? My credentials are:
30 year old male
B.S. in Biology (3.43 gpa)
Worked in fashion industry as an operations supervisor for 5 years
Bilingual
BLS certified
First Aid certified
worked as a Physical Therapy Aide for the past 2 1/2 years
I thought I had a pretty good package to offer that would at least warrant an interview, but who knows.
By the way, did anyone find the rejection letter somewhat insulting? Let me know.

I'm so sorry that you didn't get accepted. Hopefully you'll get accepted at another school. I'm still waiting to hear from them. :) Best of luck to you.
