Greetings! I just received my acceptance letter for Fairfield University's Accelerated Nursing Program starting in 2021, and wondered if anyone else on here has also received theirs? If so, did you apply to others, and are waiting to hear from them? I'm incredibly excited about Fairfield, as it is one of my top two. However, I'm still waiting to hear from Yale's GEPN program. Still, I'm thrilled and relieved (though anxious too).
@birthworker, I received my acceptance two weeks ago, and today is when I need to submit my deposit to hold my place, but I'm also waiting to hear from other programs. A $500 non-refundable deposit seems like a lot to me! Is anyone else in this position? I'm not sure where I'll end up, but don't want to lose my spot.
Congrats on being accepted! How awesome.
I was/am worried about this as well - I wish all schools had similar dates for applying/notifying applicants!
I wonder if you could reach out to other schools that are at the top of your list and get a general idea for when you will hear from them, and then request an extension for putting down a deposit at Fairfield? You might also be able to negotiate paying half, and getting a 2 week extension? I’m not sure if they will go for it, but I’d say it’s worth a try.
Otherwise, I’m not sure what your financial situation is, but I would probably put down the deposit and think of it as insurance. If you end up going, great! If not, it’s a donation to the nursing school - there are worse things to do with $500.
Good luck!
@TellMeSomethingGood thank you so much for these ideas! I like the thought that there are worse things I could do with $500! ?
@ad202 I agree with everything @TellMeSomethingGood shared. I, personally, am also waiting to hear from other programs, but decided to make the $500 deposit. I think the spot in this program is worth the deposit, and don’t want to lose it. I will also apply for scholarships.
Hi Guys! I was accepted to the May 2021 cohort, I'm excited about the program but also starting over is really scary haha. I have a son who will be 3 while I'm studying so I'm slightly nervous about my new balancing act.
I love that the program seems well organized, has been around for a while and from the interview it seems like they really care about our success!
Congratulations on your acceptance, @NursingJT! You are not alone as a parent, and in starting over! I have a 4- and 6-year-old, and will be juggling their schedules as well. One thing I will prioritize beforehand is figuring out childcare, so that I am well supported going into this. Otherwise, take a day at a time. You’ve got this!
Congrats on being accepted @ad202 and @NursingJT !!?
I am very excited and nervous at the same time.... starting over brings lots of emotions! This new journey will be a great one
I had the same impression of the program! I have a few friends who have gone through the program and I have heard great things about it
