Failing Statistics. Do I have a chance at passing?

Published

I was seeing if anyone had been in my situation. Im currently failing statistics, mainly because I keep misisng my quizzes and tests. I have missed 2 tests and 2 quizzes. The class is online and I have a good understanding of it. My professor is very strict. There is no make up for tests or quizzes. So far I have an F, because of the 0's of those test and quizzes. I have 2 more tests and 2 more quizzes before thr final exam. Im not giving up. Ive gotten more organized ( because the system I was using before wasn't working) and Im determine to pass this class. But with those 4 F's, I was wondering if it was even possible to pass the class?

Sorry to those who are trying to help me out. I forgot to add thr percentage and points. So the tests are 50% or 12.5 points each. And the quizzes are 5% or 5 points each.

Thanks for feedback. Ive taken several online courses ( including a math class) and have past them. I realized with this class how unorganized I was with keeping up with my deadlines. I have dropped it and retaking it.

The first two, I didn't recheck for my deadline and put in the wrong information in my calendar. I missed those quizzes and test by a day. I was always a day off. Ive dropped the class and retaking it.

I understand they are strict. Its needed to stay focus and dedicated to it. I have put in misinformation on my calendar and never double checked myself. I was always a day off. This is my 4th online class. My other 3, I had a math class and passed it. Ive just been unorganized.

Seems like OP has figured out the right path...... but I just had to comment because I found the title of this thread to be the epitome of irony.

It seems like you've figured out what you're going to do for this class, but I want to echo what a few others have mentioned in regards to organization. Whether you're taking a class in person or online, being organized really is a big factor in success. There are a lot of tools out there to help you keep on top of deadlines, so you really want to take advantage of those.

When you get your syllabus and schedule, sit down with a planner or calendar or phone app and put each deadline into it. Mark the date of every exam, every quiz, every homework due. Set up email or text reminders the day before something is due and the day it's due.

Pre-nursing classes are the easy ones. NOW is when you need to learn how you process information so you can best survive nursing school. Make an effort now to develop good habits. They're only going to help you later.

Good luck!

Why do you keep missing quizzes and tests?

I don't want to be judgmental, but it sounds a bit like you're not taking it seriously. Talk to your prof about whether you can pass the class this semester and learn what you'll have to earn on the upcoming assignments to determine what you need to pass the class with a competitive enough grade for a nursing program.

If you've already missed too much and will not be able to earn a decent grade in the class, then DROP IT and take it again next semester
