So I started a masters program online this semester with the goal of obtaining my Family NP. I was going along ok until I bombed my advanced patho midterm. The professor has not been much help when I asked how I could have studied differently etc. A few MDs at work have suggested a review book, but the ones they mentioned are geared towards their boards. Does anyone know of a good patho review book? I really want to do better on my final.
Thanks.

What text book are u using? I used Rubin's pathophysiology and it's a very straight forward book. As a review book I actually looked at pathophysiology make incredibly easy, its very simple but it gives you the gist of wat you are looking at. If you are having difficulty reach out to other students. I go to school online and I know that it can be very hard especially if your notes from the professors are not great. I wish you the best. I'm taking Advanced Health Assessment and am hanging on by a thread and am afraid of next semester which is my clinicals, so..... wish me luck lol.

I understand (& empathize) with your struggles. I had 4 semesters of advanced patho for my grad pgm... 2 sem gen adv patho plus fetal patho & oncology patho (electives)... and I cannot even imagine having to do it online/self study.
We used Guyton for general advanced patho - it's still my favorite reference. Very expensive, but well worth it. Purchase also gets you a subscription to the online reference/database for Guyton. Even today, I keep up my subscription & purchase each new edition when it comes out.
We also had numerous guest lecturers and mini-symposiums for each specialty area. I did very well, but I think it was because of all the available support & discussions. Exams were very tough - primarily essay - but afterward, we always had extensive instructor-guided discussion about them. I also had an opportunity to take a special gross anatomy class (designed for for advanced nurse practice) at a local medical school - and it was wonderful!
My only advice would be to locate an actual person/tutor to help you understand the specific issues you have problems with. If nothing else, you may be able to locate a med student who needs $... their basic science courses are pretty much the same as our advanced patho.
Good Luck!!! It does get better
The other students in my class are also struggling. THe notes from the profesor are very vague and not even in complete sentences. We are using Guyton and I'm not impressed by it at all. There online reference is not as good as I have seen for other books. I've even had a few docs at work tell me it's not their first choice for a text. Oh well I just have to forge ahead.
