I failed the first time as well, for the second time this is what I did: on the days that I worked I did about 200 questions and on the days that I was off I reviewed about 400 questions. I did this for a month. I did the complete book by LaCharity (Priortization, Delegation and assignment). I also reviewed Kaplan test taking strategies. I found questions with answers and rationales everywhere, whether it be on a disc, online or in different books. The last week before going back to retake my exam all I did was any and every comprehensive exam I could find and I averaged between 73%-90% on them. The day before I traveled to the city where I was to take the exam(which happened to be 4 hours away) and reviewed just some of the pharmacology that I struggled with. I had fun with my family and woke up the next morning I went for my exam
It took me 2 1/2 hrs to take my exam and 89 questions later!!!! I PASSED!!!!!!!!!
You can do this!!!
Good Luck!

Hello there..
I also failed my first take and I admit that I didn't study hard enough for that one. For my second take, I allotted 1 and half months to study. I enrolled at Hurst Online and watched every videos. I also bought NCSBN 3wks for back-up on my content and of course their 6Qbanks. I have lots of books but I only used PDA by LaCharity and I answered chapter 1- 18 and a few case studies. On my last week prior to exam, I answered 6Qbanks from Hurst, 4 from NCSBN, and 1 from Kaplan's QTtrainer (QT7). On the big day, I felt no anxiety at all because I know I'm prepared this time. It took me an hour and half and I passed with 75qs.
Don't give-up my friend.. Some of us failed the first time but that didn't stop us from trying again.
I thank every one for their testimony. I really appreciate the positive comments. The first time around I did over 2600 questions, I took the Kaplan review and studied everyday. Since my test date I took a break. But now that I have my authorization code I am studying again. I figured 3 weeks from now I would attempt again. I have the Saunders book which has content and questions. I look through the PDA but I am not sure it is helpful. So if anyone has material they can email me or any thoughts please share.
I live in GA.
Thanks again to everyone

Seems like you are on the right track I would def tell you to change the way you studied for the first test as it wasn't succesful. Good luck in a couple weeks!
Thank you so much guys, for your words of encouragement. I am hibernating to study. Let you know how it does
I again want to thank everyone for their encouragement. I failed the test the first time and believed it was the end of the world. I had just graduated and the weight of the world seemed to be on my shoulders. Instead of being realistic about needing a mental break, I took the test and failed. After viewing my results, I could not believe what I saw. Studying became my new priority and I was determined to stick to my 3 week study plan. I completed the Saunders assessment and used the 6 week schedule but doubled two day schedule into one. As I reviewed I tried my best to stay encouraged and believe what I was reading would make a difference. Unfortunately once I completed the study schedule and the test date vastly approached, I realized I scored worse on the final comprehensive assessment than the initial assessment. Although I didn't allow that to weigh me down. The day before the test, I relaxed with my family and tried not to think about the exam. The next morning, I PASSED! Within 78 questions, I became a registered nurse. So again, I want to say thank you for the encouragement
Congratulations, RN! :w00t:
