Failed 1st attempt; questions about retaking in CA

Published

Hello.
So I failed my first attempt. I kinda knew when I took it which sucks but oh well.

I also lost my job offer because for some stupid reason an IP goes delinquent if you fail the exam, which seems pointless in having one then.

Anyway, im curious about those in California who have had to retake it.

1) How long did it take to get your "official" results?

2) How long after getting your official results where you able to get your ATT?

3) Long shot question but, if you had an IP, were/are you able to get a new one if you your first one goes delinquent?

Thank you.

You are eligible for a new ATT 45 days from the date of your exam. Have no way of knowing if there are any current processing delays that may exceed this date.

Website: http://www.RN.ca.gov/regulations/title16.shtml#1414 Search: Title 16, Section 1414, Interim Permits

(a) An applicant whose application for licensure in California by examination has been approved will be eligible for an interim permit if the applicant has completed the educational requirements for licensure in nursing. (If the applicant is taking the examination as a graduate, the interim permit may be issued upon graduation. If the applicant is taking the examination as a non-graduate, the interim permit may be issued upon completion of the educational requirements for licensure.)

(b) An interim permit is not renewable and is in effect to the expiration date or until the results of the examination are mailed, at which time it becomes null and void.

The institution that gave you the job offer was assuming you were qualified to perform as an RN and that would be validated with your NCLEX results. The 'stupid' reason your IP was terminated is you have not shown satisfactory NCLEX results, and in their opinion they are not sure you are qualified for the RN position. Many states do not even allow nursing graduates to accept a position until they have passed NCLEX. I hope you saved your salary to live on, while you study the areas you did not pass. NCSBN will send you a printout of the areas you will deficient on. Compare that the the NCSBN blueprint and study!
