I just took my hesi and I missed by 0.33%. In state of AZ I need 85% in English but got only 84.67....Does anyone have any tips on how to approach this test? I have Evolve book as also McGraw Hill with 3 practice test. I'm starting to get frustrated and don't know what else to do.

Did you get a breakdown of what you scored in each section? I know for reading, it gave me the composite score and then gave me the score percentage for each area like word usage, conclusions, etc.

Also, was there anything on the exam you know stood out as being difficult to you?

When I did this test first time, vocabulary was my weakest part. Since then, I studied flash cards on my phone every chance I've got and I did improve a lot. The breakdown was 86 on both reading and grammar and 82 on vocabulary. I'm having difficulty with reading part even though it seems easy, some questions are a bit tricky for me.

Quizlet is phenomenal. Here are some practice sets uploaded by various users. I didn't study myself but surely they will be somewhat beneficial. 86 is a bit high, at least compared to here in Florida. The requirement here is a 75 and we are told that the A&P section doesn't even count toward our pass/fail so I'm unsure why it's on there. I wish you the best!

Thank you for the link. I used quizlet before but maybe not enough; I will try it again. The requirement used to be 75, but was changed to 85 for English two years ago :( ... I'm really hoping to get it next time.

I just finished the test a few hours ago and did fairly well. I feel like a lot of the trick to the vocabulary was understanding how the word is used in the medical sense. I'd focus on the flash cards you're using but also try to work on some medical word roots. Just recognizing the root can help in a lot of cases.

I feel for you the same thing happened to me and I ended up taking the hesi A2 3 times. The first time I ended up messing up my grammar part. The second time I felt like the test was much harder, I did better in the grammar, but my vocabulary and reading comprehension was off by a little. Both times I scored about 83% and I needed 85% and I'm in Arizona. Keep your head up and don't give up. My third time I went in thinking I'm going to do it this time. I scored overall 89% on the english part and passed. I just got accepted into the BSN nursing program that starts this summer and I'm so excited. You will do it this time just take your time. I found myself going as slow as I could and I reread everything over and over so I wouldn't make stupid mistakes. Good luck and let us know how you did.
