We definitely need more information to give any advice. What prep courses did you do before each exam? When you got your results, what areas were your "problem" areas? How did you change your strategy when answering questions from exam to exam? I'd love to chat about strategies, but without more info I'd just be throwing suggestions out in the dark!

For us, vocab was all medical terminology. Knowing roots should help. Math was pretty straightforward.

I agree that you'd need to deal with the airway first. Suction or bulb to clear and call a code.

Do you have access to the evolve website? There are some great reference materials on there for most of their books through your student portal.

I believe that COD is phasing out its LPN stuff. You might try talking to them about their regular RN program, though. They may give credit for an lpn.

Have you looked into some of the other local programs? I've heard mixed things about Chamberlin. There are lots of great nursing programs at colleges in and around Chicagoland that won't cost an arm and a leg.

This is all good advice. A&P is a tough class, and so much of what you learn comes up over and over again. I found that absorbing the information in many ways was the most helpful for me. For example, taking notes in class really worked for me, though I tried to keep it to the key points that weren't covered by the power points. I always read through the chapter before class, and tried to take a closer look at anything that I wasn't familiar with. I feel like reading ahead of time really helped me to highlight the important parts of the lecture, since anything that was a repeat tended to be important. I loved making my own cards on Quizlet, as I feel like typing the info from the book, powerpoint, and notes helped me look at it in a new way and synthesize it down to key points. I also looked at other people's card sets on Quizlet- sometimes reading the same info in someone else's voice helped me. I also talked out things that I was having trouble understanding. Hearing my own voice say it, and trying to explain it to my bored, befuddled husband, usually helped me retain more. Good Luck!

I'm applying to cod for a spring 2015 start. I was just wondering if any current or future students would share their rank score or any info about how many people applied/were accepted for their semester etc.

I just finished the test a few hours ago and did fairly well. I feel like a lot of the trick to the vocabulary was understanding how the word is used in the medical sense. I'd focus on the flash cards you're using but also try to work on some medical word roots. Just recognizing the root can help in a lot of cases.
