As I write this post I am so angry at myself for letting this happen. This semester I did not pass pharmacology. Quick rundown.
I took pharmacology online (WORST MISTAKE EVER) on campus was way better to do! The reason why I did was because I was dropped for some reason from my Pharmacology when I had it on campus. I went to go talk to the adviser for him to add me back in, and it did not allow him to add me or another student. He told us he would register it online, and we would keep an eye out (MY MISTAKE!!). I told him that I was already worried about that class was not too sure, anyways we kept it.
That was Pharmacology 1 and I was also taking Adult Health 1. My school is 8 week programs so it is very fast paced.
From the beginning I could feel that it was going to be intense, my dog was diagnosed with cancer and it was a huge despair from that moment. I should have known better and dropped.
Well it was a very hard journey bringing her to chemo, emergency vets, until 3 weeks later I had to put her down because of Aspiration Pneumonia. This was devastating for me, still is.
Did not do well on my exams, these exams were so hard and difficult as much as I studied. For my final yesterday I studied day and night knowing that I had to score a 96% to receive a 76 on my exams. Cumulative chapters (30 chapters) on my final I busted my butt, and scored a 94%.
Not enough by one question, I failed the course. I emailed the Professor but as we all know it is nursing school. What killed me the most was that everyone on campus was just fine, either an A or B. Their final was a few chapters, always were provided with a study guide.
The ones who took it online were either border line passing or not passing very few passed. This still was not a reason to fail, because at the end of the day it was my fault.
This will put me back 4 months graduation date , instead of 2016, I will graduate 2017.
Pharm 1 is a pre req for Adult Health 2, so I am taking Pharm 1 in September, and waiting till Nov to do Pharm 2 and Adult Health 2 on campus.
Will me not passing this class affect me for my future studies as far as getting into a program that has a Master's? This really has been a bad month I lost my best friend, and I failed this semester.
For a while I threw a pity party but you learn from your mistakes. What can I do to help me be a better student? I was thinking of some volunteer days at a hospital, I read about being a CNA but I am afraid this will eventually take time into my studies and I want to focus 100%. I am definitely going to start reading Pharm as of now, and refresh on Adulth Health.

I don't have much advice about school as it was so long ago for me that they didn't even have online courses yet :-). Scoring a 94% on your final proves you can be successful. Sounds like you had a rough go of it this semester w/ your life circumstances. I want to offer my condolences on the loss of your dog. Some may trivialize it as "just a dog" but being a dog lover myself I know what kind of an all consuming feeling the loss of a beloved dog can be. ((Hugs))

You should find a study buddy ASAP. Being an online course, many tend to study "at home." There are too many distractions, food, watch TV, phone, refrigerator, etc. If you take more online courses, set up a specific time to leave the house and go to library to study and complete online assignments there, where you do not know anyone and have a vested interest in assisting them (librarians are there for that.) Pharm is hard, and although online, you should have had access to study guides that were offered for the class, and in the future, try to push hard in the beginning and get the best grades early, so that IF you run out of gas, emergencies, etc, and you can't study as hard you can settle with a lower grade and still pass with the A or B. Your focus just needs more focus, don't wait until the last exam to cram.... and good luck on future exams....

OP..the post is all over the place. Slow down. First you were dropped from the class for "some reason" on campus? You need to know the REASON and you need to get an answer . I have a feeling you know exactly the "some reason". If the school made a mistake it is your responsibility to let them know. No one will do it for you. As far as your dog...if you are unable to study then you need to drop the course. Once again you are an adult and you need to make adult decisions. If you determine you can continue then it matters not whether your dog is sick. What matters is the grade you earn. You do seem to accept responsibility which is good. Hopefully you learn from this and do better next attempt. Good luck.

I'm confused on how you are in the nursing program and some are on campus and some are not. I know there are online programs but those are generally ADN-BSN programs. Do you not have a cohort? And do you not have a nursing advisor? The dept head of our program schedules us, we do not schedule ourselves. They should have the amount of spaces open in the class for your cohort. They do it to make sure there are no issues and we are enrolled.
Also, 8 week classes? What kind of school is this? What kind of program are you in? I do know some schools do a basic pharm as a prereq. Is that the case here or are you actually in the program?

By your post I'm guessing... Chamberlain? I took Pharm online and it was brutal. Bruuuuutal. Yes, it's going to effect your GPA and yes, that could have later repercussions. Different Masters programs have different minimums they accept. But one fail is not going to kill your dreams.
Your best bet is to find a study buddy and to set time aside for studying. That time needs to be sacred and you can't let life get in the way of getting your study time in. Make friends with other students.. work together. And... good luck.
