Failed PEDS! Feeling down!

Well this is my first thread and unfortunately it's not the best news! I took my final for pediatrics yesterday and needed a 90 to pass..... To say the least I made an 88! Talking about hurt! I feel like my whole life has paused! I've faced reality and realized that I have to use this unfortunate situations as motivation and keep pushing! The bright side of the story is that I can take the class over in the summer and continue on with the program but the pressure of not being able to fail anything for the next yr and a half of nursing school is scary. I just need some advice and motivation from you guys that know how it feels to be in my shoes. Anything helps! Thanks in advance!

Hmm. Thoughts. My guess is you didn't need a 90 as a whole in the class to pass, but on the final to pull up previous poor grades in the class. With that, you made an 88 on the final. That's awesome. That means you are putting things together. Retaking the class will be a setback for sure, but with your final grade it looks like you have started to figure out where you went wrong and will be successful the next time. Try to think of it as a bump in the road, pick yourself up, brush yourself off, and move on.

I feel you. I just failed concepts and pharmacology by 1 point because we moved, fussing over money, child care issues and a lousy instructor. I too have a yr and 3 months & I can't fail. When I went for my LPN, I passed every class and never failed. I also loved every second of the program & I had one friend that we competed with each other. I'm on my own now & have had a lot of distractions. I also lost 20 lbs in 30 days & I'm already thin so that shook me bad. For me, as I compare, it was the distraction, time management & not being consistent. I still hate the instructor because I was so stressed, I was answering questions as if it were select all that apply when it was a regular question. She could have pulled me to the side & said hey, wth! So, I'm going back in December to repeat, pass, keep my mouth shut, stay focused, plan my time, let my family figure it out & get this degree. Yes I needed a 79.5 to pass the class! The 90 on the final was to make up for my previous low test grades.... 78,74, 76 worth 60% of my grade! ATI 3% in which I got a level 1 on... Group project worth 7% which I got an 86 on.....and the final worth 30% in which I got an 88! I hate group work! At least let me do my own work and my grade is my grade!!!!! Ugh

Wow!!! Sounds like you went through a lot! I really hope things are better now! I'm definitely down with keeping in contact with each other for motivation! I added you on twitter already.... The name is frannie_15

Hey guys, don't take this negatively, but whatever the reason you didn't pass, doesn't matter... Nobody cares, people just want to see results... Whatever weight is on your shoulders, drop it, that stuff is heavy... Just keep going forward

Keep your head up. Study harder. Use all your resources so that you are not put in that position again. Be prepared for every imaginable question. Be confident when you take your exams. Pay attention in class. Record lectures. Do what you need to do to pass and you will succeed. Best of luck to you!

Not having my priorities in order and lack of time management taught me a hard eye opening lesson. I need structure and consistency. I'm using this time time organize my house, marriage, family, study schedule and me time. I going back on a mission
