Failed NCLEX three times

Nursing Students NCLEX

I have failed the NCLEX three times and I find myself extremely hesistant to start studying again. It's been over a year since I have graduated and my personal life has taken a turn for the worse. I'm afraid of failing again. I don't want to give up, but everytime I think about the NCLEX I get so anxious. It's almost like I'm having panic attacks. I just don't know what to do anymore.

i saw post here that he/she passed the nclex in his/her 6th take! so don't give up! you can do it!

just continue to read and read I guess that is the most important thing to do.. There is no such thing as over study.. but then make time for some things like having diversional activities in between, watch movies or have ample time with your family on weekends , but most important is to pray, do good to others . it is called " good karma". ;)

Keep your head up...i have failed more than 3 times...i have been figuring out ways to study...i figured i studied the wrong way...and im a little jealous because my sister in law passed the first time...just recently she did...i dont know what i am missing? i got 2 new books...exam cram and Hurst review...The Hurst Review is really good...you should purchase it because Marlene Hurst talks about how to answer the questions...and she also gives you some positive words. I never seen that in any other books ive studied from. I was wondering if u took the Nclex pn or rn? For me i took the PN...found out that my results that i was very strong in Pharmacology....Coordinated care, Reduction of risk potential, psychosocial integrity i was near the passing standard. Basic Care and comfort, physiological adaptation, health promotion and maintenance, safety and infection control i scored below passing standard. I was hoping maybe we can do an online study group? im trying to find people to study with...i believe it will help us pass. Anyone interested?

Let me encourage you!!! Listen, I failed NCLEX 3 times and felt as though my world was coming to an end but I never gave up! I studied questions everyday and prayed 3 to 4 times a day! On my 4th attempt, I prayed even more and I didn't give any room for the devil to intervene! I passed with 75 questions! (First attempt- 180 questions, 2nd attempt - 253, and 3rd attempt - 75 questions). I took the test every 45 days and always started from stratch eventhough I was above/near/below standards in certain areas. The test was much easier on my 4th attempt...I was ready!! Faith unlocks the door....please believe it!! Everyone will give you advice but please do what best fits you. I did Saunders, Mosby, Sylvia Rayfield, looked at Hursts Review but finally I took Kaplan. Kaplan was a big help because it helped me learn how to answer the questions. Saunders is very good for content but honestly your key to success is faith!! Believe in yourself! Don't skip days/nights from studying. Do questions after questions because the rationales are a must to read. I pray that you will pass and when you do don't forget to encourage someone else. God Bless, AVSRN

Hey I just got my results a few seconds ago and I PASSED! I am here to encourage you all....DON'T GIVE UP!! I took the test 4 times. Believe me when I tell you Faith unlocks the door! Believe, Pray, and do questions daily!!! The rationales are very important to read. Saunders is good for content but kaplan is what helped me learn how to answer the questions. Don't short change yourself! Do questions every day and if you miss something go back and read the content so you can get a good understanding. Remember, these questions can be asked in so many ways. If I can pass, you can pass!! I said it daily to myself, " I will pass boards!" The test was so much easier on my 4th attempt!!! I pray that God will eventually grant you your desires but remember, when you get blessed encourage someone else! God Bless, AVSRN

Hey I wanted to know your study technique the last two weeks before your test. What did you do differently from the last time. My fourth time will be on Jan 20th exactly 2 weeks from today and I need to know what to do. I just bought the Kaplan Meds you need to know yesterday and I'm memorizing like 22 meds a day until my test date. Doing saunders questions and going over rationales and doing index cards on things i didnt understand. I also will make sure I do Kaplan Qbank completely before I test. Can you give me some pointers on what to do for these last two weeks?

Two weeks before the test I focused on Kaplan. I did Test 5,6, and 7! One per day. I went back and read all rationales. I took the NCLEX on Thursday so on Monday I reread rationales to test 7. On tuesday night I glanced through my notes cards but not very detailed...just glanced because I didn't want to confuse myself. I did no studying on Wednesday. I went to bible study on Wednesday night and came home and slept like a baby!!! I prayed before going to bed and I prayed upon arising. Honestly, I had confidence after reviewing test 7. When I got to the center...I knew my content so I just needed to relax. I prayed before getting out of my car...I prayed again when I sat at the computer and lastly I TOOK A DEEP BREATH! I was relaxed! Use the strategies that Kaplan teaches. Don't second guess yourself!!!!! Relax...I do think I made the test much harder than it was on the other tries because it was much easier this time around. Please familarize yourself with infection control, prioritization, and know meds ....you will not pass if you don't know (contact, airborne, droplet, standard precautions). Think ABC's or MASLOW whenever you see prioritization questions. When you get to SATA questions..choose what you know...don't over analyze!!! And lastly remember, start saying it this moment "I will pass boards." Have confidence in yourself! Everytime I failed, I got back up and said I'm gonna pass! I feel so relieved now but I must encourage others that this exam can be defeated!!! Please continue to write if you need encouragement. I will help as much as I can! God Bless and Believe in Yourself!!! Don't focus on Luck....focus on "I WILL PASS BOARDS!" AVSRN

im sorry to hear that! but if its something you want to do, you cant give up! study study study! do your best, and aim for your goal!

Wow I really appreciate such encouraging words from you. Right now I'm going through maternity and making sure I know content well enough so that I may answer questions right. I go on Saunders and answer a question and if I don't know about it then I do an index card because writing it down helps me retain it somehow. I've tried so many ways of studying and I think this way it finally sticks. Thanks AVSRN for your advice I really appreciate it. After three times of taking this test I am trying my hardest to make this the last time I shall take this test and motivate others as you are doing. Yes, I really need to know infection control and prioritization really well. I have the Lacharity book that I'm going to finish before next week even arrives to help with that. I will have infection control known before next week even if I don't have to sleep for this! With meds I'm memorizing 24 meds a day from the Kaplan 280 most meds you need to know Nclex book so that I can have a good knowledge of basic meds, because when I took the nclex last time I felt like that was where I got alot of questions wrong. At what point do you feel confident that you know enough to take the Nclex because I feel that If I'm not scoring in the 80's in Saunders or High 70's with the Kaplan Qbank then I'm going to reschedule because I don't want to make a mistake and take it again if I'm not well prepared for it.

Let me give you some sound advice....DON'T OVER DO IT!!! I never scored 70 on Qbank!!! (Wow if your scoring in the 70's ...than that's GOOD)! Kaplan has some hard questions...Much harder than NCLEX!!! So, Your gut will tell you when you are ready. Please don't over study!!! You will confuse yourself. The key to NCLEX is finding the topic and learning what the question is asking. This is critical thinking!! Read the questions slowly so that you don't skip a word. Your first instinct is most of the time correct. Don't second guess yourself. Just do the Kaplan Strategies on all questions. If you have been studying....the content is in your brain..If you relax while taking the test, it will upsurface! Take it from me, I just took the exam...Your top topics will be prioritization, infection control, delegation, some meds (unless your missing alot) and some SATA. Oh Yea...I had NO MATH! Know this, if YOU believe than You will PASS! Others can't believe for you.. ..you must believe in yourself! Again, tell yourself right now, "I will Pass Boards!" Believe in nobody but YOU!!! And lastly, PRAY DAILY if you believe in the power of GOD! AVSRN

AVSRN...thanks for the advice...right now im studying exam cram pn and hurst review...and you studied kaplan? how did it work for you? How many questions did you answer and did you do some reading? Honestly my study habits are not good or something...All i do is questions but now im starting to read more and answer questions.
