I passed my NCLEX yesterday. I used the Saunders book and it provides comprehensive content review and the questions that were asked of me on my exam day came from this book. It prep me for it, you just never know what questions they're going to ask you, so study every chapter, and I mean every chapter, especially the fundamental nursing skills. I also used the strategies book by Kaplan and that helped too, because it taught me how to think like a nurse. Just study hard and you will pass. I studied like 8 hrs a day for 7 weeks. I got a bad cold two days before the exam and because I couldn't sleep two nights in a row, I ended up sleeping for 30 minutes before waking up to get ready to take the test. I used the night doing more question review. If you get sick several days before the exam and couldn't sleep like me, I recommend rescheduling because my brain was killing me in the exam room, I spent like almost three hours on 75 questions. I went home thinking that I failed. I want you to pass your test and Saunders will help you prepare adequately for it. Also, I answered 3400 questions in Saunders and 500 questions in Kaplan. Good luck!

I'm not saying that prayer won't work, but unless coupled with an attempt to learn the material I think you will not pass. People who fail the NCLEX only have a 50% shot at passing the next time around. You need to buy one of those review courses and actually use it. The hurst review is nice for $300. It has 30 plus hours of video and materials online. It goes over everything.

You can try to pass by reading a book or two, but you've already tried that and you know what happened.

Good luck with whatever you do.

@Sazola did you pass the nclex? How did you study.

I graduated in early December 2011. I did nothing until February 25, 2012 when I purchased the Hurst online review. I watched a few videos on Saturday Feb 25 and Sunday Feb 26, and followed along with the PDF files the provide online. I watched most of the rest of the videos on Monday Feb 27 and stayed up all night until I ran out of time at about 7am on Feb 28. I showered and went to take the test at 8am on Feb 28. The test lasted about 160 questions for me. I did the PVT and it would not let me register again, so I assumed I had passed. I paid the $8 this morning and verified that I did pass the NCLEX-RN.

That may not work for you, but it worked for me. I should have spent more time reviewing. Hurst has 6 practice tests. They also have test strategies, pharmacology reviews, and maternity reviews which I had no time to watch or read. I can tell you that many of the NCLEX questions I had on my test were covered by the Hurst videos. Of course, there was much I did not remember exactly. However, if you know the principles then you can narrow the answers to the question down.

I was a C student in school, that was mainly due to procrastination and poor study skills including not reading my assignments.

I think the MOST important thing is that you DO NOT give up!!!!! I took the Nclex-RN 5 times!!!! Every single time I took the test I got all 265 questions!! On the 5th try, I honestly did not see passing to be an option because of things that were going on in my life! But I just took it Saturday and passed!!!! Just do your studies, do plenty of practice questions! Just remember, as long as you dont give up, you WILL pass even if it takes 10 tries!!!GOOD LUCk!!!!
