Failed my nclex...new att? Help please!!!!

Published

Just found out I failed my NCLEX the first time. To be honest I'm in shock because I went in very well prepared (or so I thought), and predictor tests told me I had high chances of passing. I also got into a Critical Care fellowship and am waiting to hear if I'm kicked out or not.

I want to schedule my second NCLEX right away but I was wondering if I have to wait for a new ATT? I registered and payed the $200, and my old ATT is still within the valid testing dates. I'm assuming i have to wait for a new ATT since I don't see where to schedule a new test date.

This whole thing just sucks. I don't want to lose my fellowship.:arghh:

Yes you must wait for a new ATT and a minimum of 45 days before you can reschedule. It may be longer depending on your state BoN (many are 90 days min)

Most BoN won't issue the ATT until you have met the minimum wait time (which per NCSBN is at least 45 days) to prevent early testing

Oh the dreaded retake procedure. I am too familiar with it so I will help you out. After failing, there is a waiting period depending on which state you live in. In California, it is 45 days, and some states it is 90 days. That waiting period is the minimum amount of days you can retake your test since your last test date. Then you have to do the same thing pretty much when you first registered for NCLEX.

1. Send a retake application form to your state Board along with their fee (CA charges $150).

2. Register again on pearsonvue ($200).

3. Waiting game - what "justbeachynurse" said

4. Receive your new ATT

5. Reschedule for another test date on Pearsonvue

This all means that your old ATT is invalid. Hope you keep your fellowship, but I'm sorry to say that I doubt you will. Good luck.

Failed mine as well last week. I already got my "report" telling me how I did on each section. In Florida, you have to re-apply the same way you did the first time. In FL it's $90, if you did your fingerprints within 6 months, they're valid, if not you have to repeat that as well. You have to wait for the state to clear you ONCE AGAIN (even though I was just cleared to test in April, UGH) & when the new ATT comes, you can pick your date. FL BON said 45-90 days from your original test date is when you can take it again. I'm in the same position... Working in a hospital for 5 years, got accepted into the Versant program & now I'm super stressed.

I am sorry to hear about the NCLEX. If it is for the NSLIJ Fellowship, the class moves on without you BUT you now have the contacts to get into the October class and since they wanted you already, you should have an easier time getting in than most.
