I was so bummed out when i found out i had failed my cna state exam. It was on February 18 i was so nervous. I prayed really hard before i got in there she gave me my skills which in the state of Massachusetts is only including hand washing i got pulse and dressing i was doing everything right with nervousness then when i got to dressing towards the end my anxiety started to get me and i started second guessing so has I left my patient in a sitting position and failed with the side rails Up
It was like the worst day ever but hopefully i will pass it the second time and try to relax more:)

Hey there, I know this can be disheartening. Please do not sit on taking the exam again. It will only serve as a means to discourage you. Trust me when I say this. A state board only exists to ensure standards are being met in the areas of patient safety and infection control. Of course, you will still need to talk to the patient and provide dignity, but as far as your skills go, they are not looking to see that you are perfect at it. You are new! Nobody expects you to be perfect. Nobody is perfect.
Memorize the safety and infection control steps for each skill. Get back out there and do it!!

I bet you won't be so nervous the 2nd time around. This time you will have an idea of what to expect.

Review and try again. I was nervous my first time taking the test and failed on account of a silly mistake - it was something I knew and for whatever reason did wrong when being tested. I went back and took it again a couple months later and did just fine. I was not the only one retaking (out of 12 of us taking the skills test there were 9 of us who were repeats) which I think helped as well.
