Ok here is my story. I hold a background in psychology. One day I discovered the nurse practitioner profession at my job and immediately saw myself compelled to this profession. I then gathered all the info needed to figure out how get to the job. I put muself through community college to take all the pre-requisites courses needed to apply to a entry-level master's degree in nursing all this while working full-time taking 3 classes a semester. I was so much into it it was no problem. I aced all the classes and was subsequently accepted to my first choice school. Finally the program started I started with good grades. After that I had a hard time getting along with people in my class. For some reason some people started gossiping behind my back making fun of my accent all the time. I tried to ignore it but I have to admit that I wasn't able to not allow it to get to me. I sort of started feeling depressed, turned off by the school and disinterested in studying. Of course my grades dropped and I ended up failing one class. Now I'm not sure about what to do do. Should I go back? Should I just do something else? Thanks for reading.

Whether your should go back or not is not something anyone here can answer for you. When you work as an NP, you will work with a broad range of people and not all of them will like you. You will likely be gossiped about at some point like pretty much everyone else will. Is this right? No. But its the world we live in. You cant control if people like you or not. You can only control how you react to it. You either need to get a thicker skin or consider something else. If this is what you want, why would you let other people who would rather hate on you instead do their work bother you. You can say that them talking about you caused you to fail, but in reality YOU caused you to fail because you let them get to you. I know its hard, but tune them out and move on. GL with your choice, but this is one that only you can make no matter what we say to you.

What do you feel you should do? Are you up for trying again? Do you feel that you would be successful if you tried again at this same school? What do you feel makes this attempt different than the last that would help you be more successful? Do you feel you need to make changes to allow you to be more successful, do you have a plan to implement them?

Answering these questions for yourself might guide you in deciding on whether or not you are ready to go back. I'm sorry that you experienced this. If you feel that nursing and becoming a NP eventually is truly what you want to do then go for it and don't let anyone stop you. Quite frankly, people are always going to have something to say. You can listen to their foolishness and let it get to you or you can ignore it and keep on "doing you."

Good Luck with everything. Do what you feel is right for you.
