Well I failed my first ever nursing class with 10 weeks to go before grauatng.:o

I am so upset because i have never failed a class. I had a 76 average and needed a 78 to pass.

It really makes me want to give up.

Oh, no you don't! Don't you dare give up this close!!!

See if there is something you can do to remediate.

If not, see if you can repeat the last semester. It bites, but it's an option.

If all that fails, check out a nontrad program. You have more than half your clinicals done, obviously, you can sail through a nontrad program in a couple of months (I did), take the clinical exam, and graduate.

Search this thread for Excelsior College, or you can PM or email me if you like.

All is not lost. All is never lost.

I am not really going to give up. I am just repeating this class

I am in first year at Queens uni in belfast I am 41yrs old ready to give up. I think it is too much work for one person and the placement are awful the staff are so nasty and rude.

I certainly do not know you, and I do not know your situation. However, I will guess that in Belfast, as with anywhere, you had to accomplish quite a bit before you were admitted to training.

I think you will regret it if you quit.

Being 41 gives you advantages--I was in my 40's when I finally had the opportunity. Yes, I had terrible disappointments. My clinical placements were OK, but some of my instructors were pretty rude, and (dare I say it?) somewhat stupid. The director was (and still is, I hear) the worst. On you like white on rice to catch you cheating or whatever.

I found a way to make it through to the end with my sanity intact (at least, as much as I had to start out with!).

What do your classmates do about the heavy load? Perhaps you can join forces and at least support each other.

I hope you find a way out of the situation you are in, other than to quit. The world is full of suffering. As I see it, nurses have a huge opportunity to ease of a lot of it.

I hope you join us.

I know you want to give up but hold onto your original hope you came with! It will get you trough - well God more than anything. He will get you through. Trust Him then let me know!

A friend

I know what you are going thru. So am I. Sometimes I stay up 2 days just to do my care plans for school, plus all the reading. I have been going to school now for 7 years part time working on my pre recs. and I am now finally in the LPN program 1st semester. I am already dreading whats ahead. 19 credits next semester. But the good news is I think to myself Well if those nurses made it I could. I might even fail along the way. But Im not going to let it get to me. Failing can set you back awhile which makes nursing so stressful. But hang in there. I have 3 kids and a job here. I figure I dont need sleep. By the time I graduate I will have the darkest circles, over caffienated, and clogged lungs from all the stress, but hey, I will still get my degree if it kills me. Good luck. God bless.:) :balloons: :smokin:

I'm passing with a b, but have serious dobts about the diploma program I'm in. We're second term in a 6 term program. It's at a hospital. I'm told it was much better when it used to be a 3 year program.

There's a big problem with lack of instruction here. combined with the ridiculous amount of material to study and massive clinical hours 200+ per semester - the combination just don't work.

I've applied to a real medical college, MCV in Richmond , VA, accelerated BSN program in hopes of improving the education experience. NONE of the diploma program courses transfer so I'll be starting over. Yea it's that bad that I'd just walk away.

I've already two BS degrees and will return to my prior occupation if not accepted to MCV.

What are your experiences? Anyone go to MCV??
