I was enrolled in a nursing program in Fall 2011.I received a D in Foundations. In Spring 2012, I enrolled in a new curriculum with additional subjects to study. In my 5th semester, I received another D for Advanced Topics. My appeals were denied. Can I enroll in any other schools? Does anyone know any schools accept a student with 2 D's / out of nursing program? I really don't know what to do at this time? When I inquired, one school said, if i could bring a letter from the Dean stating that I am in good standing with the school, they can consider accepting me. Since I surpass the Dean and went to the President ( questioned the denial of appeal), I am not sure whether she is of any help. If any student is accepted in any university, please let me know.I am so frustrated and sad. All my 4 years of hard work is in vain now.
Personally, I think it is ridiculous to throw someone out of a nursing school for a failing a class or two or three etc. If that person must retake that class to move on then they are going to learn so much more and have such a firmer understanding of the content next time around.
I failed peds/ob my first time around and thanks to my program's lenient policy about failed classes, I just retook it at the end of the program. I learned so much more the second time around and even wrote my instructors after graduation commending them just how much I learned in Peds/Ob. Not to mention, so much was pertinent when I took my NCLEX. In a way, it was almost a blessing that I failed and had to retake the class. I'm a much better nurse because of it.
Nursing school these days is just so cut throat. I strongly admonish much of the process.
Wow after reading some of your post, i am shocked. My program would not even accept a C in the nursing level classes. We could make a C in the non nursing classes as long as our GPA did not dip below 2.5. However, remember most graduate schools require a 3.0 gpa so the minimal is not recommended in case you decide to go on.
libran1984, I agree with you. I remember when I repeated foundations second time .I learned much better! Can you tell me which school that you studied? I just would like to know whether they would take me. I am willing to start all over rather than going for LPN-RN...
I attended a statewide community college in Indiana called Ivy Tech.
Hey guys! Just want to tell you all that after 8 months of waiting, I am accepted into another college. I say it is just 'Divine Intervention' from above! I have to do OB, Med Surge I, Med surge II and Advanced topics within 2 semesters and if God willing i can graduate in May 15. I received C's for OB, Med surge I & II and D for Advanced topics.
I am really thankful to God for giving me this opportunity which a very few people get. I am in touch with a great tutor as well. Before joining in Fall, I wanted to brush up everything in med surge I. I truly appreciate if any of you have a syllabus of Med surge I, please send it to me.
Peeps, thanks to some of you for encouraging me at my darkest hour.Thank you all for your comments.....

For foundations, I did not understand what the Instructor is teaching.... med surge, advanced topics and foundations were my hardest classes... i think I am not a good test taker & then for these subjects, lot of info you need to remember... even if I study, sometimes I forget....
