Whatever you do think positive. Myself I did the saunders book and cd along with Hurst live review which was all apart of the college I graduated from. How do you feel on MED SURG? The reason I ask is because that is a major piece of the exam. Tie in your diseases, with labs and simple pharm meds. Will help you to remember them better. Brush over your OB/PEDS(THINK COMPLICATIONS WHEN STUDYING FOR THE BOARDS). They aren't going to give you stuff you know really well. So don't waste your time studying what you already know. Brush up and tighten up on the grey areas you are having. For delegation remember the role of the RN....and that she or he is the only one that can do patient discharge/admission(nclex hospital) because it has the element of teaching....lpns can only inforce what the patient has been taught. Remember when you need to pick what patient to see first think of who will die first if I don't seem them first or who will have complications such as bleeding, SOB ..think too is it going to get worst disease (back to tieing in thoses disease processes). With labs becare as a new nurse just because a lab is WNL really pay attention if its on the low or the high of the norm(RED FLAG FOR A NEW NURSE). Remember we want to correct things as a in the early phase. This shows the board what type of nurse you will be quick to act and correct problems. Don't pick answers that will delay care. LOOK AT WHAT THE QUESTION IS ASKING AND ATTACK IT DIRECT. The board wants you to protect the public, patient and yourself...while looking for signs of abuse/report. Review system by system. Talk about process of different disease aloud and what complications and meds and what labs are changing here. What actions is the nurse going to take. Know the why to your answer. THE WHY WILL FILL IN THE GreY, IT WILL HELP YOU TO PULL APART WHAT IS WRONG AND WHAT IS RIGHT. Why is it wrong. DO 60 QUESTIONS ADAY GO SYSTEM BY SYSTEM. Such as renal, cardio, endo, gi, gu, ob peds...and so on....Know who can room with who. Reveiw traction, safety, different levels of prevention. Make sure you read the rationals. Also do some select all that apply questions 10 of those aday so a total of 70. Study for atleast 2-3 hours a day until you can take your boards again. REMEMBER NO GOOD QUESTIONS AT THE BOARD...SOMEONE IS CRASHING AND BURNING IN ALL THE QUESTIONS...so attack with the best answer that will correct the problem. Also hit on isolation as in who can room with who, know basic safety about chest tube/chambers. The location of an apical pulse. YOU CAN DO THIS....JUST TIGHTEN UP YOUR A GAME PLAN. DON'T GIVE UP AND KEEP FOCUSED AND DON'T HANG AROUND NEG. PEOPLE WHEN YOU NEED TO KEEP AROUND ENCOURAGING PEOPLE. REMEMBER YOU JUST WANT TO GET MORE QUESTIONS RIGHT THEN WRONG. THERE ARE THREE TYPES OF QUESTIONS ON THE BOARD HIGH, MED, LOW YOU WANT TO KEEP IN THE HIGH OR MED BUT NOT STAY IN THE LOW BECAUSE THEN THE COMPUTER CAN'T GIVE YOU ANYTHING BELOW THE LOW....ONCE YOU START MISSING QUESTIONS(ALOT OF QUESTIONS). Best wishes and you can do this, you did go to the board to walk home empty handed. You got this. Read your questions atleast 3 times to make sure you are not missing keywords...you can missing questions on a test in school because you are reading too fast, same thing can happen here.
