I had few questions as i wanted apply for Nursing program.
1. Being a F1 student am I eligible to appear for NCLEX exam of RN, after passing NCLEX ,will I get RN license, SSN necessary to sit in NCLEX exam?
2. On F1 visa can i get OPT in Associate Degree program in Nursing?
It will be a great help if you send the answers to these queries.

If you have completed your nurse training at ADN and meet state requirements there is nothing stopping you from sitting NCLEX and you should be able to apply for OPT but that needs to be applied for before you graduate.
You do not need SSN to sit NCLEX just the state may not issue license without it but having OPT which allows you to work whilst maintaining F1 status means you can apply for SSN.
Do be aware that you will be affected by retrogression (saying it is still ongoing when you complete OPT) and ADN will not meet H1b requirements and you may have issues going to another country to work as they may not accept ADN training. You may have to stay as a student and do your BSN once OPT is completed
hey ,
Thanks .... for the info....
I am yet completing my prerequisites for ADN course.....i ll get admission in ADN fall2010..... So , u think F1 status is OK for ADN studies, NCLEX and RN license as long as i get OPT and SSN ????
thanks
I would think about all this once you are doing your ADN. Things may have changed by then but if you haven't used OPT for anything then you should be able to get it for your ADN but your International advisor would be the best one to discuss this with
