i have a quick question...can u legally use the title LICENSED HEALTH CARE ADMINISTRATOR as a DON in home health agency even though it is inactive status? just recently joined home health agency and my DON during interview introduced herself as LHCA and on line it showed it expired last year....:eek:do u have to be a LHCA in order to work as DON in home health agency?:confused: i am brand new to home health and just wondering...made the big leap blindly since i am desperate to get work ...:banghead:been having a hit and miss job the last 2 mos after quitting in hosp after being tired from

constantly being given low census days and other staff dont get to be sent home...thanks for your input..:yeah::yeah::yeah:

don = director of nursing, must have rn license if medicare certified agency. licensed health care administrator = administrator of agency, license must be current if required by state regs.

in pa one just has to have professional healthcare license ( rn, md, health care administration training+ 1 yr sup experience ).
