I am just starting my LNC career and I have been contacted by an atorney to be an expert witness in a home care case. I am wondering about other experiences people have had as an expert witness. I have heard horror stories.....any good stories???

You will never be qualified enough or have enough education for the opposing attorney. You talk to doctors all the time who are much more obnoxious and threatening than any lawyer. Just jump on in. Most cases don't go to trial anyway!!

My first case as a CLNC was as a testifying expert. It was a nursing home negligence case. Nearly a year later, I finally did a deposition, which was not fun, but it was ok. The case did settle after my deposition and I did not have to go to trial. In total, I have been a TE in 6 cases - 2 depositions, 3 settled, 3 on-going, no trials, yet. There is a lot of records review and re-review. It's sometimes difficult to keep the cases straight - especially if they are similar - elderly women with wounds...
Good luck with your case - I'm sure you will do fine

I'm not a LNC, but I can tell you this...it's a career move for you to take that case. Once you have been certified as a legal expert in a court of law, that opens the door for you to serve as a legal expert in other cases, and the more you do...successfully, the more money you can command.
