Experienced LDRP RN looking to Relocate to Parker, CO area

U.S.A. Colorado

Published

Hi All!!

I've been working in L&D/LDRP for ~5 years in OK and am looking to move closer to family in Parker, CO. I have my BSN, RNC-OB, ACLS, NRP, etc.

What do you all think about the nearby hospitals, Sky Ridge Medical Center and Parker Adventist Hospital (in general for anyone working in these hospitals and specific to LD)? Is it worth it to commute to CO Springs or Denver and consider other hospitals?

Any thoughts/feelings/advice about these hospitals, work environment, management, insurance coverage, wellness programs? With CO being crunchier in general than OK how often do you have patients going naturally? Do these facilities utilize CNMs? What are CS rates? Are either teaching facilities? I saw that they are not currently Baby-Friendly facilities; are either in pursuit of BF certification?

Overall is there anyone out there who has worked in LD at one of these facilities who's willing to speak to her experience there?

If you love where you work that isn't one of these hospitals (or specialty) but is close, I'd love to hear about that too!!! My husband has been working for 4 months in MedSurg, ADN with a Bachelors in Biology. He would take a MedSurg position, but would like to move on to Circulating or the ED.

Thank you in advance for any advice/response!!!

Sky Ridge is a "boutique" hospital - very chi chi. Private practice OBs, no midwives that I'm aware of. It's part of HCA.

Parker is part of Centura, which is faith-based. As such, they do not offer postpartum contraception, something that I feel strongly enough about that I could not work for them. Although, that may only be for their Catholic hospitals, not their Adventist hospitals (Centura is a collaborative between the two churches and their hospitals either identify as being Adventist or Catholic).

That's all I've got - I've never personally worked at either place (I did work for Centura several years ago, though).

Thank you Klone!! I was wondering whether the Adventist hospitals had a stance on sterilization procedures. That's also good information about Centura being Catholic and Adventist.

You want evidence-based practice, midwives, and low C/S rates - look to UCH or Denver Health.
