I haven't, but I'm also curious. What are they offering you?

Its not even worth a discussion. The recruiter has put such a bad taste in my mouth that I have haulted my research into travel nursing :angryfire

I too called Worldwide staffing about psych positions in the Virgin islands. One recruiter never called me back. Got in touch with second recruiter, who provided some information about assignments and sent me links to website for Virgin Islands. At that time only had one night shift position available and couldn't gurantee it would be available when I was ready to travel. Never heard from recruiter again. Thats been at least 4 weeks ago. Don't let them put you off from traveling. Not all recruiters are like that. I'm currently working with Supplemental, they have lots of psych travel nurse positions. Ask for Erik, he calls me almost everyday with different offers for positons, will tell you the hourly pay, housing amt, approximate take home pay, etc. Also try The Right Solutions, they place psych nurses. If you want to travel, try one 13 week assignment and see how you like it. If Supplemental offers you forensic psych in Petersburg VA, don't go. Absolutely horrible place to work.

Hi ctravel, thank you for your reply. They were pushing a state hospital in Oregan that was described in the Oregan News as a deplorable, decrepit and delapitated, overcrowed dump. You know the one where "One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest" was filmed. I cant imagine what I would've done if I had accepted without doing any research for my first travel assignment. If I tried a 13 week assignment, I would have to quit a FT job that I've had for nine years. So far, I havent heard anything worth taking the leap yet.

I'm also considering taking a psych travel position to the USVI with WTS on my next assignment, so I'd love to hear others' input on the kind of working conditions and packages they've gotten there.

FWIW, I'm currently on my very first travel assignment, and I'm with worldwidetravel. Interestingly enough, I initially made contact with supplemental because of glowing reviews from two different coworkers who had traveled with them. My experience was 180 degrees from what has been mentioned above.

The individual recruitor is obviously more important than the company they work for, because the recruitor I dealt with at supplemental seemed to have little interest in finding a position that fit what I was looking for. I gave him three months notice to find the initial position I wanted, and recieved exactly one call with a job offer... Nothing like what I had request.

On the other hand, my recruitor with WTS was amazing, and found me exactly the position I wanted (a summer psych assignment in Anchorage, AK) in less than a week!! Now, I understand that this is a matter of luck and circumstance more than anything else, but it is a good reminder that there are good and bad recruitors in every company.
