Excelsior Program

I was a medic, not an LPN/LVN, but I graduated from EC. Do you have specific questions?

Im new to Excelsior too! I am an Respiratory Therapist but getting into nursing because of all the different avenues. I would like to know how long it takes to go through the RN program. From what i have read it is as fast or as slow as you want to go. But yet again don't know anyone who has gone through it and their experience in it.

I am new to the scene. I am an LPN student that will be graduating in December. I am trying to find someone that has transitioned to RN through the Excelsior program, I cannot find any information on this program. NEED HELP PLEASE!!

Excelsior College has an exceptional nursing program from ADN to MSN.

The web site is www.excelsior.edu. This website has all the information you will need. If the website does not have information you need, the college has a 1-800 number. By the way RUE and College Network are not part of Excelsior College. Excelsior College has its own finanicial assistance, scholarships, educational materials, etc. Excelsior college will work with you to succeed in obtaining your RN. You will be wasting money, and time if you do not work with Excelsior directly.

I am an LPN in Arkansas and I just applied to take the CPNE. I have completed all the other requirements of the LPN to RN. Plan to study for each of the nursing exams for about 6-8 weeks. I found the recommended text books on amazon used for a fraction of the cost. Don't waste your time on the study guides put out by Rue and College Network unless you can find them used on ebay for $50-$60 each and then they are worth it. The practice exams were worth the $75 and I highly recommend taking them. I started this program in June 2004. I knocked out 3 of the exams in no time and then changed jobs. There were so many requirements at the hospital I went to work at, that I was not able to get back to the Excelsior program for over a year. I picked back up last Oct and finished all the tests and requirements in August. Now I just have to pass the CPNE. I hope to test in March. This has been the right program for me. I have a lot going on in my life and this has been great. I could not have done a standard college LPN/RN program. You have to be self motivated.

Hi everyone. I'll be graduating in December with my LPN from Alaska. I wanted to know if anyone has heard if the College Network (excelsior college) is legitimate. Also does anyone know if you can call the nursing board or something and find out, and see if they are will it apply to the state of alaska. Thank you very much.

Excelsior is legit. College Network is not a school but a publishing company that sells study materials. Go directly through Excelsior! If you want study materials other than "Excelsior Recomended" you can get them on Ebay. Im just starting NC1 but found all this stuff out by reviewing previous forums (glad I did). I have only heard of California (recently) not allowing Excelsior grads to practice as RN's. But Excelsior can give you an idea when you call them or you can call the Alaska BON.

I don't know much else at this point. From what I understand...... Its a good idea to take the "pre test" for the NC courses when you START studying. I started studying and took the pre test yesterday. I got a 66% on it. I don't know how that compares but I have a pretty good idea of what I need to work on. It also gives rationel (spelling?) with each question when your done. It cost $60 to take but it also has a 2nd test that can be taken as well. Im going to wait to take that one until I think Im ready to go. You don't have to schedule it but you have to pay for the test you are taking if you are going to take the pre test. So I paid ($220 i think) but all I need to do now is schedule the NC1 exam. I got some study material off Ebay for $60 which is NC 1-7 I hope it helps.
